Featured Replies

Hello everyone, l have been reading with interest, about string sizes, with the Sunsynk 8.8 hybrid inverter which is new to me, at present l am using a Magnum inverter, l am totally off-grid and am situated in the UK, l have installed 4 strings each with 5 /550 watt panels all facing south, 2 strings are flat and 2 strings are at 50 degrees, it's my intention to connect 1 flat and 1 slopping string together for 1 mppt and the same for the second mppt, doe's this sound phesable, please any suggestions would help. If possible, try to get all the panels sloping, at an angle equal to your location's latitude. If that is not an option, then at least don't mix sloping and flat panels on one MPPT. You'll have good production during summer, but noticeably poorer in Winter because of the flat panels.

You can connect 1 flat with 1 sloping on 1 mppt if you connect them in parallel. Being in the UK you most likely won't hit the max amps of the mppt so you will have minimal clipping if any.
