Sunsynk inverter. Batteries feeding non essentials

Featured Replies

I'm trying to help a friend. He has his stove and geyser on non-essentials. His installer setup the timer to always charge to 100% from grid so he wasn't saving much money from his solar.

I setup the SOC to drop to 50% overnight.

Limit to home set and priority battery is set.

Yesterday evening they ran the oven which is a non-essential but the battery started feeding the oven and not the grid. He doesn't want that. Can this be controlled without setting the timer to 100%?

In system mode, one can limit the power used from battery for each time period. I limit mine to 1200w for this exact reason.

That's another idea thanks.

If only sunsynk would have an option to limit batteries to load output only

I don't understand how the batteries can feed power to the oven if it is a non essential load, ie not connected to the Load or Aux output of the inverter.  Mine is connected like that and oven is only feed by grid or solar.  When grid is down oven is dead.  Must be a setting  somewhere.

You are spot on. When grid is off no battery power is fed to non essentials. As has been mentioned you can control it by adjusting what power you want to allow to geyser, oven and other loads from battery.

If the 'System Mode' 'System1' timer values have a SOC less than 100%, then the inverter will power anything - non-essentials (if they're powered on and connected via CT) or essentials - from PV-with-the-balance-from-battery, down to the SOC percentage; with battery draw limited by the 'Power' value for that timeslot. (This screen applies only whilst there's grid, though.).

If the grid is down, the non-essentials are down also and thus can't be powered by the inverter; this is a use-case for the Aux port.

Set the power limit for the timestlot to the average essentials load power and it's effectively the same thing 😀
