Espresso
Hi, New member here, hoping for a bit of enlightenment! I want to build up a marine 12v Lithium iron battery (LiFePo4) pack. About 400 AHr. I have been offered 2 packs, both 48 volt: 1) Leoch LFeLi-48100 (48V, 100 Ah) From what I can gather this has 3.2V, 50AH Prismatic Lithium Iron Phosphate cells, so how do I break it up into a 12 volt pack? 48v nominal/3.2V per cell = 15cells 15S 2) Pylontech US2000B also 48V 100Ahr. These also seem to be 15 Cell! Is there any pack out there that i can break up to get 12V nominal, Or is there any way of breaking up these packs? Once I have this sorted out, I will also need help with the BMS system.
Energy-Jason
Sorry for the silly question: Is this for a sea going vessel? Jay
pilotfish
I am not sure that butchering something like a Pylontech is a cunning plan. I would suggest taking a look at this site, I have read good reviews on the Headway batteries; http://www.headway-cn.com/en/products.php?pid=95 You could build up your own from individual cells and then add a BMS, or look at their [Storage Batteries] section which has a 12V 200Ah option with BMS (you would need 2 obviously). Your max continuous discharge from 2x 12V200Ah banks in parallel would be 120amps (1.4kW) which may be a consideration. If you require higher discharge you could build up your own using the 32x 3.2V (3.6V charged) 50Ah cells in a 4S8P which would allow you 800amps discharge rate (for about the blink of an eye). You can also look at http://evcomponents.com/lifepo4-cell.html I have recently dealt with the very helpful Matt at EV Components and they are a no nonsense business that will ship to RSA via DHL. There may obviously be other options available. Clint
Espresso
It is a sea going yacht, very much so. The thing is, I have been offered the Leoch or Pylontech packs at a really low price, so I would like to fully explore if it's feasible to use one of them? Energy-Jason
Can I interest you in the marine version of the AirX units? :>> Funny I just put one up today for a testing unit. Seams to be very well made. Jay

Heya @pilotfish, How would you rate Headway vs Heter ? http://www.heterbattery.com/products/lithium-ion-cells/lithium-battery-26650-lifepo4-3200mah
pilotfish
I don't have any experience with their products but they are a reputable organization from the info I have come across. The Vape users seem to favour their batteries as high quality but as usual you need to try and separate the genuine products from the knockoff when using sources like Ebay etc
Espresso
Hi ENERGY. Sorry but the wind generators don't interest me. Too noisy and dangerous spinning blades. Edited September 2, 2018 by Espresso
