Enertec Megatank GL48100 - 51.2v / 5.12KWH / LIFEPO4 BATTERY Any reviews or experiences so far?

Featured Replies

Hi All

I've been scouting the internet for the last couple of weeks trying to find a suitable replacement battery for my home system.

Does anyone know how the Enertec Megatank GL48100 batteries perform and any expierences so far?

Other batteries that I've been looking at, but not sure of is: Volta Stage 1, Svolt 16 Cell and also Greenrich (that's over my budget at the moment)

Perhaps what other brands should I rather be looking at if my budget is around 20-25k for a new battery?

@The_Duk3_ Have a look at this battery, I have one, old design, so far it has performed very well. Please note I have no connection whatsoever with LBSA, just my personal opinion.

The enertech is 25K (usually 26K) at GeeWiz. You can get the roughly equivalent Greenrich for 26.5 to 27. And it's a 1.5C battery, meaning it can give you 7.5kW if you have that sort of demand (and if your inverter can handle it).

Did you check for compatibility between your inverter and the batteries you are considering?

I definitely would've gone with the GreenRich WM5000 unit if I could get it locally or maybe even delivered for 26.5k, but it seems like it's going to cost me more like 27.5k-28k

I can maybe get a Enertec unit locally for around 24.5-25k. I'm also just waiting on pricing for the Volta Stage 1 to compare as well.

The S-volt batteries from that PsyClown suggested is a very good price and might still consider that as well, but I would've preferred to buy a battery somewhere in PE for me to be able to collect it myself. I'm a bit skeptical to do a large payment like that at a online shop that I haven't dealt with myself before.

I have a Axpert Max2 Inverter that has been set to a output limit of 5kw when running from battery power, but I'm mostly using between 2000-3000w when a kettle or microwave are used for 2-3min at a time. I've been told that a lot of the batteries might work on the Pylontech profile, but I haven't really done a lot of research myself.

Thank you for the recommendation. I will also add this to my list of batteries.

Perhaps consider going the DIY route? Some 105Ah cells and a BMS.

I know @Antonio de Sa is very happy with his LBSA battery, although I recall him mentioning that the BMS does not count the cycles correctly. I think if it discharged to 80% or lower then it counts it as a cycle automatically, even though it may not be a full cycle. This only makes a difference to the cycle count which is displayed on the BMS, so not too much of an issue but something to be aware of.

@PsyCLown Yes indeed, basically it counts a cycle every single day. Once SOC drops below 80%, I stopped worrying about it. LBSA warranty states 10 years. The question is, will they stil be in business in 10 years' time? so far 28 months of use still get to 99% SOC as from day one, and still sowing 100% state of health. These figures are quite accurate as I'm pulling this information directly from the BMS using Modbus protocol.

Check the last 7 days, yesterday 6 hour of LS, first time in a very long time that my battery went down to 20% SOC. yet it counted one cycle every single day.

So if the battery is discharged to say 70% SoC 3 times a day, would it count as 3 cycles?

@The_Duk3_ I would definitely recommend Greenrich. The battery can communicate with the Axpert Max II with the correct cable - see the attached pdf. ACDC has a promotion running until end of Dec (https://acdc.co.za/uploads/specials/attachment/1697115616_ACDC Lithium Batteries_GreenRich_BTC_valid 31DEC.pdf) and the pricing looks really good, so contact or visit the ACDC Express in PE and ask them to quote you on one of the Greenrich batteries in the promotion, cable and lugs can also be bought from them.

I am not sure if the bolt size of the 5kWh and 6.1kWh batteries are the same as the 3.686kWh so ask them what thickness is the battery clamp bolt size so that the correct lugs can be ordered.

@PsyCLown Yeap, that is the case. However, I'm at home the all-time, and if I see that could happen, I change my inverter settings to SBU and run on battery at nighttime when my load is about 500 W. Like for instance just now wife decided to use the oven, even though there is still enough PV I changed the settings to SBU. See dashboard.

Thank you for the advise Gerhard. I will definitely look at the specials and also see what is the best price that I can get one of the Greenrich batteries for.

Maybe I should just go with the Greenrich and be happy 🙂

Also thanks for sharing the guide, that will definitely help if I decide to get the Greenrich unit.

Good Day All

Just a quick update.

I've decided to go for the Greenrich WM5000 instead and so far I'm very happy with my purchase and thanks to all of your advise and guidance with the decision as well.

I also want to say thank you for @GerhardK83 and @Gustav du Plessis for sharing the cable pinouts and I can confirm that it does connect with no issues at all.
