ON Digikey I found Cornell Dubilier 3000 h 25x50 3300uF 2.6 A ripple curent, 65mohm or Rubycon 3900uF 3000 h in the same size 25 mm in diameter.30 mm is too fat. However, the problem is the marking of the 3 (pink) Jamicon capacitors??? because such a capacity of 6800uF 105 oC and size 25x50 is not in the company's catalog for the HS series that it seems to suggest. The largest capacity for this series in this size with a diameter of 25 mm is 4700uF. However, there is one in the LS series for a maximum temperature of 85 oC. Is it possible for Voltronic to mount LS and mark them as HS? It is similar for the large one (yellow) on the PV side, it says 820uF 500V 105 oC and the largest one in the catalog for this series is 470uF. This confuses me a lot.

What to me is far more likely, and I have a very vague recollection about reading something similar, is that Voltronic have the muscle to talk to a major capacitor manufacturer and get a custom part made just for them. They buy lots of capacitors. Perhaps it was in one of Weber's original posts; unfortunately I don't have the time tonight to look it up. I'm wondering if perhaps this is a tactic to thwart the clone manufacturers, or at least force the cloners to design up a different PCB that has more room for standard capacitors. Of course, that doesn't help the repairers and people like yourself who want to pre-emptively replace the capacitors with better specification types. Of course, the manufacturers can't defy the laws of physics, so you might find that these capacitors are perhaps 52 mm tall, when the industry standard is multiples of 5 mm.

Maybe you are right. I measured them and thay are 54 mm tall. So the HS series with a larger diameter of 30 or 35 mm 6800uf, which does not fit in this inverter anyway, has a ripple current of about 1A higher than the replacements I mentioned earlier. In such a situation, it's hard to choose something and be sure, even if the other parameters and the manufacturer seem to be better. Edited February 13, 20242 yr by bratpit
