Faulty Report – Shoto 4.8kWh

Featured Replies

I have had this battery for 2.5 years connected to a 5kw Growatt inverter. The fault alarm kept coming on so i took it back to the supplier.

There were 2 batteries connected and the older one is still fine

They sent it to their supplier to test and the report came back with the following:

This battery was received with no Warranty Sticker in place. The Battery Data Recorded that the System was over charged 6012 times with 63 Short Circuit events as per the log attached. This has caused damage to the BMS and will need to be replaced. As this is not a Manufacturer fault, it would be the Client’s cost for the replacement of the BMS. The Cells are still all in functional state. No Installation Data / Images were received.

This does not make sense as it must have been faulty since installation?

can anybody comment or had this issue?

They want 6500.00 to replace the BMS

Cheers

I'm not totally sure about the 4.8kWh batteries, but the newer 5.1kWh will charge to the pack overvoltage setting (57.8V) if you have comms to the inverter, thus causing overvoltage errors on every charge which is 'normal'. What were you charging to?

I'm not sure about the short circuit events though.

Try to get the logs from your other battery to see how they compare.
