August 2, 20242 yr I had a solar system installed in Oct 22 and was issued with COC. All AC and DC protection devices was installed in same DB box. DC on top row and AC on bottom row. Last week I had new string added by different installer but he tell me that SANS code now requires that all DC and AC are split and he have to do that before he can issue new COC that is triggered by the addition to the the system. Can anyone that is up to date with the code please comment on this requirement?

Jacques nowhere does Sans10142 specify that Ac and Dc is not allowed in 1 db board it does however specify that conductor separation is vital. If the wires running in your existing db board is seperated from each other( ac/dc) then it is allowed also clear labelling to specify top part DC and bottom part AC. 6.1.10 Conductors that form part of a d.c. installation shall not be run in the same wireway as conductors that form part of an a.c. installation. Thanks, the DC and AC are in separate conduits that are in turn grouped in a larger rectangular trunking.

Then it is perfectly legal and COC was rightfully issued by 1st electrician then i don't see why the electrician want to issue a new COC he just need to issue a supplementary certificate for the added string. The cost of a new coc is going to be more than a supplementary certificate that is maybe the motivation.

Yes, and he quoting to strip the installation and redo it with panel lights for grid connection etc. I am waiting for him to send me screenshot of the code requiring it.

He just need to add the indicators if they weren't included the first time no need to redo anything. Send me a picture of your front db board closed and opened if possible.
