Max Solr Input vs Max Solar charge

Hi All,

Hopefully a stupid question.

Look at the Growtech 5.5KW Inverter specs, I notice that the specify that the Max Solar Input is 18A and the Max Solar charge current is 100A.

How is this possible?  How can you put 100A into the batteries when you are only getting 18A from the panels?

Not stupid, but fortunately straightforward enough. The current at 18A is at a higher Voltage on the input side of the inverter. Typically around 450-500V max voltage on your string of panels, at around 10-20A.

The current at 100A is the output at the battery Voltage, typically around 24V or 48V, depending on your system.

Power = Voltage x Current.

The flow of energy/power remains basically the same throughout from the panels to the battery, but if the output Voltage is lower than the input Voltage, then the current must be higher to maintain the same power.
