Kodak 5.48 plus

Featured Replies

I bought two kodak 5.48 plus inverters so that i can couple them in parralel. I had a normal 5.48 kodak

To my disapointment i can only put 9  x 550w pannels per inverter due to the low PV voltage range 145V

The old one could handle 480v

Instead of putting 24 pannels in total i can only put 18

Could you place the links (datasheets) for these two inverter models?
Did "Kodak" in their wisdom create a low and higher voltage model with the same Product code? 🤨

That sounds like you intend to do 3 strings of 3 in series.

I use these inverters and installed the panels in 3S, but ended up rewiring to 2S as they do not work well even near 145V.

You may be better off to wire 4 x 2S on one inverter and 5 x 2S on the other.

@Calvin if i connect in 2s then will i be able to utilise all 20 of my pannels  so basicly conecting 5 x 2s on each inverter. Will the wats not be the next problem?

inverter max PV wats 4000☹️

Yes the inverter with max of 4000W is a bit too high using 10x550W. I would not go over PVmax x 1.2 = 4800W.

max wats you can get out of a 550w pannel?

I have 535W panels which gives me a theoretical 6420Wp.
During cloudy spells in summer with cloud edge I have had spikes just short of 8000Watt. That of course would only occur if the batteries are under charge and there is a high demand. But you have to consider the max possible.
That would be 8000/12 = roughly 650W from the panel. These are extremes and only for short periods.
Mostly my panels produce around 90% of their rated power in full sun in Summer and only for around 2 hours at most.

@Scorp007 what do you think is the max wats you can get out of a 550w pannel? Under normal full sunny days

Manufacturers normally indicate a 75-80% NMOT during operation.

Some guys like @zsde are getting great figures during cloud egde. My panels go to just over STC values during cloud edge.
