First Life: New battery cells Second Life: Second hand cells, so less charge-discharge cycles left Two main Lithium chemistries that you will see in solar systems: NMC: More expensive as it contains rare-earth materials, the voltage is more linear over SOC, so easier to figure out charge level. LFP: Cheaper, lower power density, safer, longer lifespan. LiPo: Lithium polymer. Used in laptops, RC planes, etc. These don't handle overcharging well at all.
