I recently added solar panels to my 3kVA Axpert and since then I've noticed that when Eskom comes back on after load shedding, the batteries are charging well beyond the 27.5V setting [29.2] and at a fairly high charge rate ... I turn the inverter off-on and everything returns to normal. The display now shows 27.5 and trickle charges for a short while before switching out. It is set for "sol" ... is this right?
March 21, 20197 yr im by no means an expert but im guessing you are measuring the charger voltage coming in over the batteries

So it sounds like it's doing a complete charge, i.e. proceed through bulk, absorb, then float stages, rather than just staying in the float stage. After a little charging, if you turn the inverter off and on again, it may well decide that the battery is charged enough, and won't start a bulk charge again. 29.2 V (14.6 V per 12 V module) is a normal absorb voltage (sometimes called bulk or CV setting). So that all sounds normal; it needs the higher battery voltage to fully top up the battery. Quote It is set for "sol" ... is this right? SOL is a setting that you would only use if you have frequent blackouts. Oh, wait... Yes, SOL for setting 01 (output source priority) is appropriate for keeping the battery full; it will run the loads on battery (charged from solar) during the day, and top up the battery with utility power (if available, obviously) just after sundown. I don't recall what it does after the battery is full. Careful choice of settings 12 and 13 will allow some utility charging during extended cloud or rain during the day, while using panels to provide at least part of the load.
