March 3, 20251 yr Hi everyoneI was hoping I could request help from those knowledgeable members of the forum. When Eskom decided recently to test all our inverter setup, I unfortunately noticed, that my Inverter did not charge my batteries when the grid was offline in my area. So I did some snooping around inside the inverter and discovered that when I run my multimeter between the PV input's using a continuity test, it shows it is shorted. Traced the wires from the bottom to the top of the inverter, and it was truly shorted? I was thinking perhaps it could be a capacitor, or mosfets that might be the problem, but I did not have the time to diagnose further. Any suggestions as to what could be wrong, or perhaps you have had the same issue, your comments will be appreciated. Or even suggestions how I could about checking further? I was happily running for the past 2 years, so I am not sure what went wrong.
March 5, 20251 yr I'm not familiar with any 1.5kW Axpert models. Does it have a high (350V+) maximum PV voltage, or around 145 V max?If the former, then it's a boost converter, and a shorted MOSFET will short the PV input (via the boost inductor).If the latter, then it's a buck converter, and a shorted MOSFET would not short the PV input.I would guess it's a high PV voltage model, and that the MOSFET is shorted. Note that the gate driver components are also likely damaged. There are traced schematics now in the AEVA forum.
March 7, 20251 yr Author Yes it is a High PV model (300v). I have not had a chance to look yet, but I will this weekend. Appreciate the schematics as well, I don't think I have the time to work it all out manually. I will definitely get you a coffee! I appreciate the input, excuse the pun. 😁
