Help for a battery configuration

Featured Replies

good morning, would you like to help me configure my GOODWE 5048ESA inverter to use an "aftermarket" battery?

Currently it works well (but not very well) with the Default setting (Lithium100Ah) but I want to try to configure it as SELF-DEFINE.

The battery is a 16S with EVE MB31 cells, SEPLOS 3.0 BMS and therefore it could be configured as in the image, but I have doubts about how to set some data and I indicate them in red...

thank a lot

Alberto

Self-define is an old feature really supposed to be used for lead-acid batteries that do not have a BMS.

Your best bet is to have a cable between BMS and inverter and then select the default lithium 100AH. This is the way my system is set up (different brand of battery). With the comms cable in place the BMS is able to instruct the inverter as to how it wants all the parameters set. Indeed if I try to change any of them manually, the BMS promptly sets them back the way it wants them.

So the BMS now has a degree of control over the inverter.

This is a very easy way to work, as long as you can get the network cable in place. A regular cable may not work with the Goodwe. When I had a different brand of battery in place I had to snip some of the conductors in the network cable before the BMS and the inverter could talk nicely. So the challenge is to find the pin outs for a cable between the Goodwe inverter and Seplos BMS.

But once you have this in place it should be literally plug and play, This is how it was when my current battery was installed. The technician set the battery type on the inverter to the default, plugged in the comms cable, and the BMS very quickly took control of the battery settings.

You can't do this with self-define settings. In self-define mode the inverter pays no attention to the comms cable, because, as stated, it is an old feature really intended for battteries that have no BMS.

thanks Bobster!!! I wanted to try that because I need to balance the cells of the battery pack, and so, when it gets to about 98% I would like to lower the charging current 1A otherwise the Seplos sends the battery into protection and disconnects the charge, but with the User define (lithium100A) I don't know how to do it. I don't think the Seplos 3.0 has the ability to limit the charging current of the inverter. Now it is attached with a network cable.

The seplos will send the charging requirements to the inverter via the cable, and even if that fails, it should disable the integrated shunt.

Mb31 is a new cell, so balancing shouldn't even be required. If voltages are close, just charge it with the inverter.
