May 4, 20251 yr Hi all. I have had my mecer sol-i-ax-8m 8kw inverter now for over 3 years. Works well except for one thing that seems to be happening more and more nowIt will sometimes (maybe once or twice a week) stop giving power out and just show F55 error. You have to switch everything off and on again so inverter reboots before you can get it to work again. We use both pv channels and the only thing that i can sortof establish is it happens when its partly cloudy and switches between lots of sun and cloud and back again in short preiods of time.Ive read it might be a firmware thing, does anyone know how to update the firmware on these and where to get the firmware. Will Lever be able to help?

Specifically, a resistor chain, a capacitor (making an RC filter to average the inverter output), and back to back zener diodes to limit the voltage in case something goes badly wrong. A fault in any of these could falsely trigger this fault.Of course, it could be legitimate, caused by a leaky IGBT, or bad gate drivers on one or more of the IGBTs, or possibly a few other things.7 hours ago, AlbertMecer said:I've read it might be a firmware thing, does anyone know how to update the firmware on theseThe firmware upload procedure is documented here. To find the right firmware update file for your model, you have to tell us your existing U1 (main, DSP) firmware version.
May 4, 20251 yr Author My main CPU version is 72.01Secondary version is 112.14I was hoping to try firmware otherwise i suppose id have to remove it and take it to mecer if its components?

This forum and others have pretty good traced schematics, "usual suspects", and so on. I mentioned some parts to check last post.If you don't have the expertise, then yes you'll need a repairer; fortunately Mecer seem to be reasonably good with repairs.
May 5, 20251 yr Author Hi there. Trying to upgrade via usb cable. It starts then after few seconds it stops with read data err. Display then change from UPG YES to error 32. Switching all off and on just goed back to 32. Now nothing works. Any chance I can give you a call or something?
May 5, 20251 yr Author I have now tried probably 20 times to update the fw to 72.08. Each time it starts well. An see it counting as its updating. Sometimes it stops at 20 orher times 70 once it even reached over 2000. Never finishes. Just stops and screen on inverter goes to 32. Tried 2 laptops. Same resultIm using usb cable to micro usb underneath the inverter. Can you suggest something? My only option if I cant get it right is to remove entire thing from wall and take to supplier. Really dont want that

Details here. It might be better to try the USB drive update method. See the upload instructions here:https://forums.aeva.asn.au/viewtopic.php?p=87767#p87767
May 6, 20251 yr Author I went and got a OTG adapter and a USB drive (havent used one in years), I then format the drive fat32 and copy the file MAX_8K_72.08.inv to the drive, I then rename it to dsp.hexWhen I plug this into the inverter and go to the upgrade option, it seems to start after i press yes, howevver after a few seconds it starts showing U03 and just stops. If i try do any of the upgrade thing without the drive connected, even just the OTG thing connected, it wont go to Upgrade screen, so it does seem to be picking up the drive and all that. Perhaps just not able to read the file? Any ideas what U03 means, google knows nothing about these inverters it seems.
May 6, 20251 yr Author After trying all 3 methods without success, called Mecer South Africa, they helped via Whatsapp video call, sent me latest fw (72.76) and we installed it via the RS232 cable (which I bought locally in the end)Unit is working now again like a charm. Maybe it will fix the problem of the E55, time will tell.
