Need help on Hubble/Goodwe combination

Featured Replies

Are there any installers in the Durbanville/Kraaifontein area anyone can reccomend who work with both brands? I have a Goodwe ES G2 5000 inverter and 3x Hubble AM5 batteries that don't interact correctly and a firmware update on the Goodwe just made it worse. Two of the batteries were older and needed the firmware to be updated. They were, but the inverter was barely charging the batteries - like 10% a day. I then purchased a cloudlink and plugged it in and also decided to update the inverter firmware. The batteries stopped communication completely with the inverter even after reverting to the older inverter firmware, nothings working. Does anyone know what to do to fix this or who I can call? Both Goodwe and Hubble support say the batteries and inverter aren't compatible (they were before the update), so that's not helpful.

I have a Goodwe ES. There are many batteries that the inverter is not compatible with. Including the FreedomWon 10/8 that I have.

When the FW was installed, the installer selected default lithium on the Goodwe, then plugged in the comms cable. The BMS in the FW then quickly took over and set everything the way it wanted. Not all batteries do this. Prior to the FW I had a fairly early and fairly rudimentary Revov with a BMS that could not do what the FW BMS did.

Failing that, you can use the self defined option on the Goodwe, but you need to know the values for each parameter. And you then cannot use the comms cable between inverter and BMS.

You may also find that the comms cable is a problem. Initially my Goodwe was having a hard time talking to anything. I then had a guy from Goodwe on the phone, telling me which conductors in the comms cable had to be snipped. Eventually there were just two conductors left. He said "try that now" and it was a lot better. Check that your batteries have a Goodwe compatible cable.

PS: You probably don't want to do this yourself, unless all the warranties are expired, and even then... Hubble and Goodwe would want this to be done by somebody they know.

Is there anyone you can recommend? Preferably in the CT area. Apparently everyone I google are too busy for such minor things.

Not in your area. You could contact Goodwe SA and ask if they can recommend anybody.

Most companies, big or small, want to do installations rather than look at a system that somebody else installed. I do know a guy in Jhb who does the latter, but not in your area. I don't think they're too busy, it's just not the business they prefer.
