We installed two of these in parallel in May 2026 - replacing 5x Pylontech 3000C - good balance, no errors, much longer battery time. Very happy with the purchase!

Our inverters are dumb - voltronic/axpert MKS-5 - so we are using "Solar Assistant" on a Pi-3 to do the heavy lifting. Also very happy!

I have a Sunsyk 8kW inverter with 2 x 5,12kW Volta stage 1 x 5,12 kW batteries. Can I add this KNY-P51300 15.36kWh Floor-Type LiFePO4 Battery too the system? What problems could occur and is there a better option? Many thanks PJ

Yes, the KNY-P51300 15.36kWh is one of our popular floor-standing units and is marketed as compatible with Sunsynk/Deye inverters (CAN/RS485, 200A BMS, Pylontech-style protocol often works well).It is technically possible to add it in parallel to your existing 3× Volta Stage 1 5.12kWh batteries.

All are 51.2V LiFePO4, so voltage matches, and many users run mixed-capacity banks successfully via a common busbar.

However, we must caution strongly:

  • Mixing different brands and capacities (15kWh + 3×5kWh) is not recommended for optimal performance. You may see uneven charging/discharging, where the big KNY pack carries more current, and the smaller Voltas reach limits first. This can reduce overall efficiency and lifespan slightly over time.

  • BMS communication: The inverter might only talk fully to one master battery. The rest could run voltage-based. Proper cable, protocol selection (often #0 or similar on Sunsynk), and initial balancing are essential. Test thoroughly.

  • Warranties: We do not know if this will affect your Volta or Sunsynk warranties (or the KNY’s 10-year warranty). Many manufacturers prefer same-brand banks. Please check directly with Volta/Sunsynk support and your installer.

If you still want to proceed, we can supply the KNY-P51300 with the right comms cable guidance.

Yes, the KNY-P51300 has a smart/active BMS that supports adjustments, but with some practical limitations.

Key Details:

  • Max Charge Voltage: Fixed/recommended at 58V (typical for 16S LiFePO4), with a hard max of 58.4V. The BMS has built-in over-charge protection at this level. You cannot freely "dial in" a custom max voltage like on some open JK/Seplos DIY BMS units.

  • The inverter (Sunsynk) will control charging voltage, and the BMS will protect if it exceeds safe limits.

  • SOC% Adjustments & Full Charge Behaviour:

    • The BMS calculates SOC based on voltage, current, and coulomb counting. It typically reports 100% SOC once it reaches the absorption voltage (around 58V) and current tapers off.

    • Many users can fine-tune SOC calibration indirectly via the inverter settings or (if available) Bluetooth/WiFi app for the BMS. It has active balancing and protections that help it reach true full SOC reliably.

    • Full 100% adjustments are not as flexible as premium DIY BMS (no arbitrary SOC offset in most cases), but it performs well for "full" cycles when the inverter is set correctly.

In Practice with Your Sunsynk Setup:

  • With CAN communication working, the inverter reads the BMS SOC directly and follows its guidance you set your desired min/max SOC% in the Sunsynk menus (e.g., charge to 95-100%, discharge to 20%).

  • Without perfect comms, fall back to user-defined voltage settings on the inverter (e.g., bulk/absorb 56-57V, float ~54V).

Overall: It’s a good “set and forget” smart BMS for most residential users, but not as tweakable as high-end programmable ones. If you need very precise custom voltage/SOC tuning, a different battery or external BMS might be better.
