  4. 30 Degrees Celsius ambient Solis S6 6KW Pro Tier 1 Inverter IGBT Core temp Historical Data I did a Heavy load test yesterday ran the inverter at 4.8 to 4.9 KW load for 2 hours ambient temp was 27 degrees peak temp reached 59.8 Degrees note how fast the temp stabilised after the heavy sustained load In my opinion this is excellent heat management and performance the inverter did not derate during this test and generated no error codes or warnings it simply handled the load and managed the heat generated. Some real world data. By Contrast the S6 8KW Pro Tier 1 Inverter with active cooling same conditions as the 6KW unit shows the difference the active cooling makes vs passive note the temperature shown is IGBT Core temp typically 20 to 25 degrees Celsius higher than ambient internal temperatures.

  7. Hi Gareth and anyone following this thread, Thanks for posting the details on your new Solis S6 Pro 6kW installation. This is a very common question with the S6 series when people first put a high-draw non-essential load (like your 3.3kW oven) on the grid side. Good news first: There is zero risk of damaging the inverter. What you saw is normal behaviour the inverter is simply prioritising your own PV and battery before pulling from the grid. It's doing exactly what it should in a properly configured hybrid system. Here’s the correct way to set it up for your scenario (no grid export, oven on mains/non-essential side): Recommended Settings (Self-Use Mode – Best for SA Homes)Via Inverter Screen or SolisCloud App: Work Mode Set to Self-Use (this maximises self-consumption). Export Power Set (Zero Export): Enable Zero Export / set Max Export Power = 0W. Grid Peak Shaving: Enable the switch. Set value to 3000–5000W (start with 4000W and adjust). This limits grid draw. Anything above that (e.g. your oven) gets topped up by PV or battery exactly what you want for savings, without exporting. Battery Settings: Battery Reserve SOC 20–30% (inverter won’t discharge below this for loads). Allow Grid Charging On (if you want off-peak charging). Peak Shaving works together with Self-Use. CT Clamp Direction (most important check): Arrow on CT must point towards the grid/utility. If reversed, you’ll get weird backfeed/export readings. Expected Behaviour After These Settings Oven on Inverter uses PV first, then battery (down to reserve), then grid only if needed. No power exported to the municipality. During loadshedding: Oven goes off (as it’s non-essential), essentials stay powered. Better Long-Term Option Use the Smart/Gen Port If you don’t want the oven draining battery at night, move it (or other big non-essentials) to the Gen/Smart Port: Can be configured as a second backup. Set rules like “only power when battery >90% + excess PV” or disable below certain SOC. Many S6 Pro users do this for geysers, ovens, pool pumps, etc. Would highly recommend your installer checks the CT placement and updates the firmware if needed. SolisCloud gives excellent real-time flow diagrams screenshot those if you want us to review. These inverters are excellent once tuned. You’ll see great self-consumption numbers with this setup. You have a couple of options you can see if you can source a SOLIS S6 Hybrid inverter that supports battery backup and you can ac couple your micro inverters to the AUX port on the SOLIS Hybrid. If your micro inverters respond to frequency shifting. The battery came online immediately, protocol selection worked perfectly, and it is communicating well with the Solis system showing a lot of information. Build quality feels solid and the active BMS is balancing cells nicely. The Battery BMS ap is excellent and offers a mass of information from cell voltages on each cell temperatures ect. It also has self test modes and a host of functions and features via Bluetooth and Internet tech support can log into the battery remotely and make adjustments some functions are password protected for good reason. Some info of note the design size of the pack is 16KW at 51.2VAC the true capacity of the pack is actually 17.6 KWH under promising and over delivering. Also note 0 Cycles... I will be doing both short-term and long-term review of this battery with various different tests including full capacity testing, daily cycling with solar + wind, performance, high discharge, efficiency measurements, and extended real-world monitoring.   13. Hi @demaniak Equalization Disabled / Off (not needed for LFP). Batt Resistance Leave at default / 0. Stick with the voltage settings I gave earlier. Your BYD modules have their own BMS for balancing no need for inverter equalization.Let me know how it performs. Regards @Powerforum Store
  14. Hello everyone I got all the different configurations from Hubble Energy Today so I will be doing all the different tests etc. Itching to get into it. I will do some block diagrams as requested by @Yellow Measure Any other feedback or questions would be appreciated. Will update as soon as I have done the first test mixing different chemistries and then different pack sizes.
  15. Hello Everyone,Generator integration on the AUX Port or grid side of the Solis S6 works very well when done correctly. A few critical points: If the generator is smaller capacity than the inverter, you must use an inverter generator pure sine wave with stable output. If you are not using an inverter based generator, the generator needs to be much larger than the inverter’s demand. Even though the Solis applies load evenly, cheap conventional generators fluctuate too much in voltage and frequency. The Solis will reject the “dirty power” and trip or refuse to connect. Very important!!!!! Proper earthing is non-negotiable: The generator must be properly earthed and share the common earth of the system. The neutral-earth bond on the generator side must also be done correctly, otherwise you risk elevated voltages on the AUX port that can damage the inverter. Make sure the Solis settings are configured properly: Smart Port set to Generator mode Maximum generator power limit entered so the inverter doesn’t try to pull more than the gen can supply If the installer is back on Monday, get them to check the above plus the port settings in the Solis app/cloud. We’ve seen reliable operation (charging + load support) when these rules are followed.
  16. Hello Everyone, The core issue here is not with the Solis inverter hardware or firmware it’s with what data the battery’s BMS actually sends to the inverter via the CAN bus. Why Freedom Won eTower shows limited information: The Freedom Won BMS only transmits a limited set of data points to the Solis basic SoC, voltage, current, charge/discharge limits, etc. Detailed parameters that Moffat is looking for such as individual pack cycles, number of battery modules in series, core strings, and granular per-module data are simply not being reported by the Freedom Won BMS in the CAN messages for the Solis profile. Solis can only display what the BMS sends. If the BMS doesn’t include that data, the app and web portal will show blanks or incorrect values e.g. fluctuating cycle counts. Freedom Won would need to release a BMS firmware update that expands the CAN data set for Solis compatible profiles. This is something they have done in the past for other issues. Kynee batteries for example: Kynee batteries use a more advanced/smart BMS that actively populates all the available fields that Solis supports including detailed cycle information, module counts, etc. Their BMS is better aligned with the richer data protocol that Solis expects, so everything shows up correctly on the Solis Cloud app and portal. Note on other popular brands: Some other popular battery brands also show similar limitations with detailed data on Solis it ultimately comes down to how comprehensive their BMS implementation is. Point is: Solis inverters rely heavily on the battery manufacturer’s BMS to supply rich, accurate data. When the BMS is comprehensive like Kynee, you get excellent visibility. When it’s more limited as with the current Freedom Won eTower, you only see what the BMS provides. Freedom Won has a good track record of resolving these things via remote firmware updates it might be worth tagging them directly or contacting their support to request an expanded Solis CAN profile. Here are a couple of examples of BMS Reporting on the Solis Cloud and you will note the many different and incorrect bms reporting issues this spans over 4 Battery brands on different sites. Some report battery pack count incorrectly others report Battery capacity incorrectly or temperatures incorrectly the point is the Battery BMS dictates what values are reported.
  17. Hello @demaniak If you look at my old AM2 bank, those batteries are between 3 to 5 years old and still going strong. They get cycled every single day and the whole bank is still sitting at 99% SOH same brand as the new models. The one AM2 that Hubble Energy identified as faulty will be repaired without too much hassle they’ve done this successfully for many customers before. The Cloudlink is a big advantage here because Hubble’s technical team can do in-depth remote diagnostics to quickly identify any issues. Hubble Energy did go through a period where after-sales support was a challenge, but that is history now. The company has turned things around strongly. They now have proper service centres in Cape Town, Johannesburg, and Durban, and their warranty plus support is among the best in South Africa. On the performance side, the stats are looking very favourable. The modern LFP chemistry has improved a lot, and the AM5+ is performing excellently. I’m seeing round-trip efficiency around 97%, which is very close to the 98% lab figures often quoted for LFP remember there are always losses in the inverter and cables. I’m also noticing that the packs may actually deliver slightly more usable capacity than the sticker rating excellent value for money and it sets a high bar for the competition. The unlimited cycle warranty is also very appealing. They wouldn’t offer that unless they’re confident the batteries can deliver over 10 years. I’m currently building up more data and will post detailed graphs and test results soon. The AM5+ is busy with load and stress testing on the 6kW Solis perfect for hammering it properly, while the AM16+ is sitting at 100% SOC ready for the parallel tests with the AM5+. Only a pleasure to share always interesting things to discover.

  21. AM5+ Testing Underway First Impressions Hello Everyone,I have now started testing the Hubble Energy AM5+.Setup was very simple and straightforward. It shares the same magnetic cover design that neatly hides the cables as the AM16+, and it uses the same LFP chemistry and voltage range. Quick notes so far: The LFP models AM5+ & AM16+ run at a slightly higher voltage range than my older NMC AM2 batteries. Cloudlink setup is very easy there are mobile apps for installation and configuration plus good online documentation. Got the battery to 100% SOC yesterday morning, ran it down to 37%, and am now charging it back up to generate solid charge discharge data. I’m currently running it as a single pack to monitor performance, temperature, etc. We’ve had very cold nights close to 0°C outside, but the battery area stays between 10 to 15°C at night and rises to 25°C during the day. Under higher charge rates, the battery’s internal sensors show only about 2°C above ambient nice and stable.I’ll cycle it down to around 15% with some heavier loads today, then take it back to 100% tomorrow. After that I’ll move on to the parallel testing with the AM16+.So far I’m not disappointed at all quality build and good real world behaviour. I will share more detailed graphs and findings as the testing progresses. Any specific things you would like me to focus on with the AM5+?
