Good day all. I installed a 800w turbine. It connects to 100ah probe lifepo4 I have the controller that comes with the turbine. Will attach pic. When I use this controller the turbine runs nicely but it gives no charge. I have another mars rock 0 - 1500w mppt controller. When I use this controller it seems to only brake the turbine. It barely moves. I would prefer to use the mars rock controller but I think the setup might be wrong, and this is what I am needing assistance with please. Below are the pics of controllers, wiring, battery spec and suggested settings Below are the settings I am looking for please. Over discharge protection voltage Over discharge recovery volt…

Hello Everyone We have started a wind turbine project to Illustrate that wind power in the right area and with the right equipment is a feasible solution and worth the money time and effort. Product Choice is very important meaning that you must understand the technology that is available for wind turbines. We have been involved in the Wind Turbine industry for some time and just as with solar there are many pitfalls to look out for unfortunately there are an excess of inferior quality products in the market and a lot of people that do not understand the technology and how to correctly integrate it with existing systems. We are documenting this proce…

Hello All I am sure that with the wealth of advice and guidance on here, someone will be able to give me a definitive answer to the above topic. At present I have an inverter and solar setup running nicley on a conversol V4 with 2 pylontec us 5000 batteries and it is powering my home on a seperate consumer unit that supplies the power to the whole house. The only thing currently on the mains supply is the lighting.(working on that too). My question is this. If I get a wind turbine set up in my garden and run the output from it into my solar power cupboard, how can I best use the wind turbine output to add to my existing solar setup. I have another Axpert MKS4 i…

Hi everyone, as part of my studies in mech. engineering I'm designing a conversion kit to use old wind pumps for electricity production. For this I need detailed information on the gearbox assembly, like dimensions of the shafts, gears and housing. Has anyone old manuals, technical specifications or drawings lying around or would be willing to take some pictures and measurements on their wind pump? I'm especially interested in the Stewarts and Lloyds Climax models and would hugely appreciate any help. I will post the building plans and results after testing here and on instructables.com.

Hi, I have (probably unwisely) acquired a nominally 600W VAWT which I have installed at a location where it spins almost all the time. However I am having difficulty actually getting any useable power out of it. When there was a gale blowing I managed to intermittently light a single 12V LED (2W or so), but most of the time even the small green LED on the rectifier/controller struggles to light. I am thinking that I am not matching the load to the wind turbine effectively. At present the load is a 15ohm 50W resistor mounted on an aluminium plate. It doesn't get warm and the green light on the controller box doesn't light. I have asked the supplier of the kit what kin…

Good day All Compliments of the Season!! I am currently i need of some information and advise. I require to power 4kwh for 24 hours 24/7. I currently have 6 x 550 watt Solar panels, 5kw Sunsynk inverter and 6kw Greenrich Lithium battery which would be enough to carry the load during the day but my concern is during the night time hits as well as in winter. Been doing some research into a wind turbine but have not really found something for residential use. Any assistance or advise would be highly appreciated.

I have written a preprint on the calculation of a wind turbine power. Betz's theory is correct, it is made from the calculation of the kinetic energy of the fluid. I do not question Betz's theory or that of precursors like Lanchester. This calculation does not take into account the constraints on the structure of the wind turbine. The hydrofoils on the sailboats allow to lift the sailboat and to reduce the forward forces. The wind allows the sailboat to move forward but also allows it to be lifted and yet the wind has not been doubled. Instead of creating stress on a keel, we create a flow around a profile to make the sailboat lift. This is potential e…

I recently have bought an 800W wind turbine. I am waiting for the couriers to deliver the turbine. In the meantime though I have built the tower. It is 7m tall built from 40mm borehole pipe and pipe flanges. It is on a hill about 40m behind my house. The base is concreted onto the rock outcrop. There are two 3m pipe sections, and then a flange to attach the guy wires, and then another 1m section with another flange on top to bolt the turbine to. The first pic shows the pole, and the second gives an idea of the height of the hill. It is quire clear around the site so there shouldn't be too much turbulence.

Hey guys, I took the time to do some research into the power and energy claims of the most popular micro-wind turbines. I noticed that nothing like this already exists on the internet and wanted to make it easier to compare options. https://windpower.com.au/resources/micro-wind-turbine-performance-guide I'd love to get feedback on the article. It doesn't attempt to answer every question you might have about buying a turbine, but focusses on one of the most important questions: "How much energy can I get out of this thing?". In doing this research, I also uncovered some dubious claims by one manufacturer.

I think I have pulled out my wind pump pipes for the last time. What a chore, especially if you drop the pipes and have to fish them out again. Electric pumps are so much easier. I don't think I have the patience to fix the pump and drop it down again (the pump ran dry) So what do I do with the wind head now? Is it possible to convert it to a wind generator easily? I used to have a permanent magnet alternator that I could have used via a belt or chain somehow, but I don't have that anymore. Has anyone done this, or come across anyone that has done this?

Hi All I have built a 2.0 Kw hydro generator. I am using a 2.0 Kw axial flux PWM generator rated at 48 volts 3 phase and 500 RPM. The hydro part of it gives constant RPM of the generator. I feed the 3 phase through a three phase rectifier and the output is 49 VDC. This feeds a 48 volt battery bank made up of four 12 VDC AGM batteries in series. The issue I have is that I am only producing 1.2 Amps, even when the batteries are below 48 volts. Any ideas?

Hi, I have a 10kw, 3 phase, 48V vertical turbine installed with a 48V hybrid mppt charge controller compatible with Lithium Batteries. It is spinning and the mppt controller picks up voltage coming in (20-30v), but does not pick up any current from the turbine. Can anyone please advise what could possibly cause this. Could it be a polarity issue from the turbine?

Hello everyone! I have built a new small off grid system: -Wind generator 600 W 3-phase AC 12/24V. MPPT regulator 12/24V -1000 W PV-cells with dedicated MPPT regulator. Working well. -24 V battery bank of 9,5 kwh. Problem is that I cant get any charging current from wind plant. I have replaced both the turbin and the MPPT-regulator but it is still not working. Yesterday we had good winds here in Stockholm (peak around 15m/s) with this readings. Peak AC voltage 18 V. Average 7 V (L1-L2/L1-L3/L2.L3) System voltage 25, 8 V No AC curr…

Hi, I have 15 340W solar panels together with Voltronic type 5KWh Hybrid inverter and Pylontech lithium batteries, with load shedding I charge batteries from grid for 1 hour 19H00 till 20H00 in order to make absolutely sure we will be fine next morning. Question is, can I combine small wind turbine with the panels, rest of setup in order to bypass extra grid charging? weather, wind permitting, and if possible is it advisable?

Who would be interested in a wind generator of 4Kw. I am thinking of getting all done via a lazer cutter and then molds for fiber glass blades. If you are interested leave a comment or a yes please will see to what level I can get it in a kit form with direct orders from suppliers. It will have a MPPT look alike interface to work with a standard inverter and in my case I will have it working on grid tied system.... I am also planning to have a micro to do the feathering so we can control the speed and temperature If this is boring then delete the subject.

Hi there I need some info on following if someone can assist. I want to purchase 3kw wind turbine without controller. I have victron mppt 150V /70A charge controller. So I want to connect 100amp three phase ac to dc rectifier and connect to mppt then to Batteries. Mppt should be programmable to connect dump load through aux contact to stop lithium batteries from over charging. Can this be done? Thanks

We are trying to assess this new "rotating wing" VAWT design on Youtube. It says in the video description that these are a new category of wind turbines which use only 1 rotating wing to achieve very high RPM rotation: We wanted to ask: Do you think such a 1 Wing design can be widely used for energy generation in the Real World? Does a VAWT like this have many advantages over Gorlov, Savonius, Darrieus VAWT designs? Or is it just an experiment and a test idea basically? What do the wind experts think on this?
