Hi there I need some info on following if someone can assist. I want to purchase 3kw wind turbine without controller. I have victron mppt 150V /70A charge controller. So I want to connect 100amp three phase ac to dc rectifier and connect to mppt then to Batteries. Mppt should be programmable to connect dump load through aux contact to stop lithium batteries from over charging. Can this be done? Thanks

We are trying to assess this new "rotating wing" VAWT design on Youtube. It says in the video description that these are a new category of wind turbines which use only 1 rotating wing to achieve very high RPM rotation: We wanted to ask: Do you think such a 1 Wing design can be widely used for energy generation in the Real World? Does a VAWT like this have many advantages over Gorlov, Savonius, Darrieus VAWT designs? Or is it just an experiment and a test idea basically? What do the wind experts think on this?

Hi, I leave in the city and I am considering getting a wind generator to augment my solar capacity. I ideally need a wind generator that would be installed on the roof and not make much noise. The vertical axis wind generators seem to be the best fit for this. Looking around I found the ATLAS2.0 Wind Turbine 2KW. ATLAS2.0 2000W Wind Turbine (Fully optimized for ground conditions) Is there anyone using this wind generator or similar and what is your experience?

Greetings , I have had a look through the topics / posts here and thought that I would add a little something extra Jason did point out the South African Wind Atlas -- there is however something of a convoluted procedure to assess the information Not to mention the VERY confusing website WASA Project It is perhaps a bit easier just to go to here to GIS at Elsenburg Wind_Atlas ( Map Server) Their Cape Farm Mapper is also very useful; Cape Farm Mapper People have mentioned Weather reporting sites which normally do include wind speed and wind direction Many of these are however at the "Macro" level and I just wonder how accu…

Very interesting concept and seems superior to traditional wind generators in every way. Easy to replace kite in case of damage, portable and much smaller and lighter to transport (it's basically a shipping container), cheaper, will perform at lower wind speeds and I assume it is fairly silent, doesn't kill birds etc. Current model maxes out at 200kw but their next MW model is coming in 2024.

Hi, Ive been doing some thinking about DIY wind turbines. Wondering if someone more knowledgeable in the area could answer some questions for me. When a Wind Turbine is say rated for 12V. does it provide a higher Voltage to charge a 12V battery ie. 13-14V? I Presume The Voltage changes and Rises with the turbines RPM's, So would they use a higher voltage generator like 24-36V to produce enough power at lower rpms and regulate the Voltage output at higher speeds? Thanks

I want to evaluate our site to see if we can use a wind turbine to supplement our solar. Does anybody know where I can find a DataLogger that will record wind speed and direction to an SD card or any other removable media? I prefer this to wireless or recording to internal memory.

Greetings, well done on a fabulous forum. Please advise me about adding wind power to an existing PV system. I need to add a Vertical axis wind turbine (VAWT) to my 3kW PV system to provide additional power during the 16 hours when solar provides zero input - so a 500W VAWT could provide maybe 6hours = 3kWatt.hrs overnight on an average night and maybe the maximum of 16 hours = 8kW.hrs (8units) to my battery. This is adequate for my night-time energy demand. I have been told by my suppliers of Axpert Inverters that a parallel connection of an MPPT-driven VAWT to the battery, in parallel with the Axpert battery charger will not work 'cos the 2 MPPT controllers do not …

Hello to all. Ok, we are in the Karoo, lots of sun and lots of wind. Currently we have a Goodwe 5kw unit, works a bomb. We have double the amount of panels that we should have and we manually turn them on and off as the sun moves, our house is in an H shape and is a solar collectors nightmare or a dream for us as we can now harvest sun from the east, the north and the west. But we cannot add wind into our mix with the Goodwe. We have been told to go Sunsynk as they are the only units that can be programmed to take wind as well as solar. Our plan is to order 2 Sunsynk 5Kw units and run them in parallel. All so far is good and clear, we can m…

Hi folks. Im kinda new to solar power. I self-installed a solar system at my home in the southern suburbs. The heart of the system is a Deye 5kW hybrid inverter supported by a Pylontech US3000 @3.6kW with 74Ah capacity and 5xJinko 405W mono panels. Summertime I had good clean free energy but winter is less friendly and with the current loadshedding, its taking its toll on my limited storage capacity. I have a 3kW wind turbine complete with charge controller and mounting hardware which I wanted to integrate into my system but I just realised that the output of the charge controller is 48 to 58Vdc which is far below the starting voltage (125Vdc) of the 2nd MPPT on my Deye. …

Hi, Me and my bachelor project team are working on a vertical axis wind turbine to be installed on the middle of highways. We're in denmark, so the wind turbine would benefit from both the natural wind and the passing cars but we have a problem with this: we are making all our tests on simulation softwares like Qblade and WaSP and we don't know how to sum the forces of the passing cars and the natural wind. With these softwares it is possible to make a full detailed analysis of the natural wind and we have found sources for the average wind speed generated by cars, but we still can't figure out how to combine these two. If anyone know something about it or could…

I am planing a solar installation at the South Coast and have a problem with lots of shade due to high trees. Is it worth considering a wind turbine, or is it uneconomical as I have recently read. The property is high and normally have a nice draft. Than there is a problem with monkeys and I don't know what they will do with a wind turbine. Any input will be appreciated.
