No problem Chris. I just don't want anyone to be ripped off. The instances I am aware of happened in 2012/3. I cannot believe this guy is still out there up to his tricks. Amazing the balls on these guys, geez!

FYI - Mega Solar is Jason Sole. For those who don't know, here is a link to check out. Never do business with him. I know of several people personally that have been burnt. I only mention this to avoid any visitor for member here from being ripped off.

Despite any aspersions cast on the character of the author, most of what is written there is very true. You do need a very strong and constant wind to get anything near the rated output of a wind turbine. Right now mine is producing zilch, but my solar panels are at their best now in this clear highveld day!

That's what's so worrying about it: The guy actually knows what he's talking about. You can actually get drawn in...

Note: I do not vouch for him or GWStore.

But it is most interesting.

Nearly 90% of my original solar stuff came from GWStore.

Then I read about the drama years later and promptly ignored them.

One day, needed a few parts, ordered again from GWStore - I am very brave see. :-)

Jason Sole delivered, in person, my last order. As a matter of fact, he has done so on more than one occasion, even on a Sat when he was close to Bellville.

At one point he was even selling GWStore. Now his name appears again.

Ai tog!

I bought my whole system from GW Store, somewhere in 2014.

After much battle, I got the panels.

After a lot more hassle, I got the charge controller and inverter.

I also paid for 24 Willard RT23's. I have not received them (yet).

Agreed. Stay far, far, far away from Jason Sole, GWStore and Mega Solar. He will take your money and never delivery on his empty promises.

Mega Solar

After commenting on a complaint using my facebook account, he actually contacted me and claimed defamation of character. @Chris Hobson saw the comment too and can confirm that I did no such thing, simply mentioned his name and his involvement with both gw and mega with no more details. He claims to be employed by Mega Solar only (so it is unclear if he's the owner). Of course one can always search CIPRO or whatever it is called nowadays, but I have no further interest in it really (it would likely cost me a few bucks to look it up on windeed).

Whois is insightful though. The owner of the domain has the same last name. This is all public information by the way, anyone with a bit of knowhow can do it.

What character, Shady Character maybe:ph34r:

If he wasn't such a dodgy dude as described by several 1st hand stories in the comments and links above he wouldn't have to fight so hard to drag his name out of the mud. I for one am grateful for the heads-up - thanks to all who contributed.

(Not contributing to legal costs though, you're on your own there:D)

The only litigious person who has ever threatened to take me to court was a shady character. When I pointed out that I had several witnesses that could testify to the person in question freely using marijuana and whiskey (often combined) and that the source of our dispute was that they would make decisions and then not remember that we had agreed to. I said under the circumstances they might just find they had a criminal lawsuit too. With the realisation of what that might entail (curtailed overseas trips) all talk of litigation ceased.

Me, and quite of a few of his clients first hand experience was pure theft. Some clients payd, a few hundred thousand for equipment which was never delivered. We would have done the installations but had to tell the clients, red faced, that I don't know where the equipment is, or when it will arrive. Defamation of character? Bank statements, emails and "invoices" don't lie.

Hence you will note that I'm being very careful here to state only the facts. I took my comment down because I don't know for a fact whether he owns/manages/runs this new entity or are merely employed there. He claims the latter. I also said earlier that "the deception continues". Technically I don't know that. Maybe, this time, he was actually screwed over by a supplier. What I can say with some certainty, is that it appears this new business is operated by a family member, but technically he works for that family member. Do with that information what you want :-)

  • 2 years later...

I can testify that megasolarsa.co.za and gwstore.co.za are one and the same. Jason, Jen and Judy Sole openly admit to running a ponzi scheme whereby they use customer payments to invest in other schemes before even buying stock.

Myself and no less than 28 other people that I know of ordered stock between the end of 2017 and the beginning of 2018 and didn't receive the goods we ordered or a refund. We're each owed no less than R17000.

Stay away from monkey valley folks.

Typo

Just to update you on this industry my connection in California sent me this recently:

'The small wind industry has collapsed leaving us with no high voltage controllers'

(He uses these in his hydro systems..)
