September 10, 20223 yr Are there any stats on the noiseiness of vertical axis wind turbines with height differences above ground level?
September 24, 20223 yr Hi Gents, I want to add a 3KW Zeus wind turbine from Setup to my 2xAxpert 5kw inverters in paralle operating with each one pv string and 400ah akkutech lithium battery bank (48 volt) how do I do this ? Should I charge the batteries direct with the turbine thru it's own charge controller? Help please

I would think this would be the right thing, but how can this charge controller know what the battery is looking for in terms of charge/float voltage and peak current and whether this current is taken up by the battery or consumed by the inverters?

The same way as a MPPT connected to battery. If the battery wants charge the controller will provide it or throttle.

Presumably the battery's BMS is talking to the Axpert, though and you can't have 2 masters, I'd imagine and I don't think the Axpert can be a slave to another charge controller sharing the same battery, I would think, are you suggesting to, assuming the controller can, only put it in dumb voltage mode?

No need for 2 that have to share comms. It does depend on the inverter. If the Axpert does not use comms and on voltage then I would think the 2nd MPPT looks at what the battery needs. The reason why I think this way is Chris Louw and myself are using an external MPPT together with the Axpert MPPT charging the same battery without a problem. No BMS on the batteries in use.

Just have a close look at the reliability of these units as wilt all wind power units. Very few that can handle the load on their mechanical components.
December 5, 20223 yr Vertical Axis Wind Generators are worth it if you're looking for a renewable energy source that is reliable and affordable. These turbines have been shown to produce significant amounts of wind electricity, making them an ideal solution for rural or off-grid applications. They are relatively easy to operate and maintain, so you won't need professional help to get started.
