May 13, 20197 yr I have aquired a Axpert 3kVA/24V Inverter and a BlueNova BN26V-154-4k Lithium Ferrous Phosphate Battery Getting everyting planned has taken a while and the setup will be completed one I am shure what is needed and I am confident all bases are covered. However I need to keep the battery charged. Can I connect the inverter to the mains and charge the battery without a load or solar attached?

As far as I know, only the oldest 5 kVA models, and a few of the latest models with the 450 V MPPT, can power the processor and display from the AC-in power. But there is no need to have the power off to change settings, with the exception of just one, setting 28: "AC output mode", and that only exists for parallelable models. I don't believe that yours is parallelable. Forgive me if I'm missing something here.

Yes, this is not one of the few Axpert models that can operate without the battery connected. However, I would not expect it to be damaged by this process; I would expect it to just ignore the AC input. You didn't mention the error code. Was it fault code 09?
May 25, 20197 yr Author I did not look for a fault code ....I switched off!!! Now.. Switched on the battery and then the invrerter after setteling down it now displays I have not changed any settings , they are all still default I have not changed setting 16

The fault LED is off, there is no fault code showing, the "block diagram" seems to show utility charging (which as you point out is different with the 1K-3K model), and there is a sensible AC input voltage reading. Is it charging the battery now? The right hand side of the LC Display photo is hard to read, but it seems to say 0 V, meaning only that the loads aren't being powered. The "hell of a noise"... was it like a bang? Accompanied by a bad smell? Perhaps it was just the arc from connecting the battery without pre-charge? But I thought you hadn't connected the battery at that point, only switched on the machine via the rocker switch.

Still busy with wiring etc; will be still a while before loads are connected No bad smell and mayby it was just the fright that attenuated the noise🙄
May 25, 20197 yr I have an extra 48V PowerStar LW, 3000W inverter/charger, that I connected to help charge the batteries on a rainy day in the Cape. The attached picture is one of the inverters operating normally as an inverter, just to show what it looks like. The extra inverter/charger worked fine for a while but now it gives me an alarm (audio and red light) if I switch it on. Any ideas or suggestions in this regard? Maybe I should just invest in a "charger only" option to supplement the charging on cloudy days. Any suggestions on what kind of 48V charger I should consider?
