May 31, 20197 yr Hi guys, After playing around with WatchPower and another cloud based app to monitor my Axpert/Pylontech setup, it seems that ICC is the way to go. The cost of just the ICC software is not bad and I already have the Pi, but cannot understand what is so special about the ICC cable that some companies charge around R850 for it. Is there anyone here that have been able to convert a standard USB to RS232 (DB9 connector) cable to work with the Pylontech or at least know where one could buy an ICC cable that is not gold-plated?
May 31, 20197 yr I used a normal USB to RS232 converter. For the RJ11 plug on the Pylontech (console port) you can use an old telephone (Telkom) cable. Just make sure to find one that have all 4 pins. Some only have the middle two. Another option for the RJ11 plug: I could not find one, so I used a normal Ethernet cable and filed the plug smaller to fit into the RJ11 socket. Then I used the middle four pins.
June 7, 20197 yr Author Thanks for the reply Jacques. I ended up making my own DB9 to RJ11 cable and connected it to a USB to RS232 converter. I have not tested it to ICC yet, but it works fine via a terminal emulator.
