Axpert MKS-3K-24 AC Input Short Circuit

Featured Replies

Hi All,

An Axpert MKS-3K-24 inverter (PF1) is tripping a 32A AC input circuit breaker but working fine in battery mode with no fault code on the LCD. I suspect a failed MOV between phase and neutral but this can only be established after opening the unit.

The installation has common and differential mode surge protection provided by a 40kA Type-2 SPD and an under/over voltage protection relay.

Other than MOVs, what else should I look for when opening the unit? Cheers!

Also check the capacitors at the AC-in terminals. On later 48 V models, these are on a separate small PCB near the AC-in terminals.

It might also be that the active and neutral to earth capacitors are tripping your protection, i.e. the protection might be too sensitive.

24 V models also have a separate AC to DC battery charger. I don't know anything about it, but it would be worth inspecting.
