I just said I did it my self. ;-) and I have a Arduino switching the aircons on and off via IR transmitter.

That's all good but who is going to build the cool monitor, after Viper got the software, for R100 per device?

I Use Fibaro Home Automation with a combination of Z-Wave power plugs and strips (and mFi Mpower strips which is WiFi) . Measure power and can be automated in just about every imaginable way. I switch of all non essential equipment in a room when either there is no movement or the wattage drops below a set point! Works like a charm!
