Will I damage my Lithium Ion -LifePO -batteries if I charge them with very low current

Featured Replies

I am thinking of changing the settings of my Axpert inverter so that it can charge my lithium ion batteries at very low current (say 2 Amps) at night. Will the batteries go bad as a result?

Only if the SOC goes below about 20%. If you're using them in standby, this should be fine.

But I can't see any reason to charge them slowly. As long as the charge settings (e.g. bulk/absorb voltage) are correct, and as long as you stay below the manufacturer's recommended maximum charge current (usually C/2), there should not be any problem.

Using very high charge voltages (such as the Pylontech recommended charge voltage of 53.2 V for 15S LFP) can cause issues, but charging at 2 A maximum may not help with that problem anyway.
