August 4, 20206 yr Will this work to monitor real time values in Watchpower? Or should I just use the USB mini port with USB extenders? I saw a post here saying the USB connection was not designed for continuous data transfer.
August 5, 20206 yr I think your best bet is an RS-232 extender. I've only see those go to 20 m. But you might get away with ≈5 m either side of the RS-232 extender. RS-232 over cat 5 cable is probably not going to work, at a guess. Edited August 5, 20206 yr by Coulomb extended → extender
August 6, 20206 yr I run a cat5 of about 25 mtr to a keypad than from keypad have the serial to usb converter. It seems to be ok except that i think the data is about 3seconds behind the inverter keypad, but it does not bother me.
