Axpert Firmware Upgrade Questions

Hello all

Sorry if this has been asked and answered before... I have a new Axpert King 5K (March 2020 build sticker) which was delivered with CPU 1 firmware 71.90 and CPU 2 firmware 1.10 (as seen via ICC Software)

I have a few questions for those in the know, before I download and update

1 - Is CPU 2 the same as Remote Display Firmware?

2 - Can one go direct from 71.90 & 1.10 to 71.93 & 2.49 without doing any in-between versions?

3 - Does one need to update CPU 1 or 2 first? From what I have read, 71.93 requires 2.49 but I am not sure if 2.49 will work with 71.90

4 - Is it better to do the update from a laptop or USB OTG?

Thanks in advance

Yes. I'm calling the the removable display firmware, because there is already a remote display that's quite different, and has its own firmware.

Yes. Firmware is replace-all.

I actually don't think it matters, as long as you don't use your inverter much between updates.

You need to update your removable display firmware, and that's not possible from USB OTG. So you may as well do both from a laptop.

@Coulomb Thanks again, all updated perfectly. For what it is worth, I did the display first and then the inverter.

I did learn something... The CPU 2 referred to in ICC is the SCC firmware... Can you let me know where one views the display firmware version?

Also one last question, if you know... I have a 2nd inverter at my parents house but theirs is a pre-2020 unit. I believe there was a hardware revision to support the WiFi module for WatchPower. Can you let me know if the firmware is compatible with older hardware revision (September 2019) which is also running 71.90

Thanks again

It's one of the display items on the LC Display, U2. Just use up and down arrows till you see U2 in the top line. I have no idea about whether Watchpower or ICC can see it. It's available via the QVFW3 command, so it would be no trouble for ICC to display it. Yes, QVFW3 has the information seen in the U2 display; had me very confused for a while. Similarly, U4 is the SCC firmware version, available with the QVFW2 command.

Interesting. All I see here is about 5 U(S)ART ports, and I don't know if one of those is to the WiFi processor. I believe that there is another CPU with a fourth (!) firmware, that does the WiFi. My guess is that if you don't have the WiFi chip, then nothing bad happens apart from not being able to use WiFi, but I really don't know.
