October 12, 20205 yr Planning an off grid solution with multiplus ii 5000/48. Pylontec batteries, dc coupled. would it start a single phase 2.2 kW pump? We would only start to irrigate with full sun.
October 22, 20205 yr Keith, I am far from an expert on this. I have the same sorts of concerns as you and my research says no. With a soft starter - possibly. Might need to go to a higher VA rated inverter such as the 8000VA or 10000 VA Quattro. That little bit of headroom makes all the difference on motor starts.
October 22, 20205 yr In short - yes it will start the pump, however the question is how many things next to that pump is running when the pump is about to start. The peak of multi II 5k/48 is 9000whttps://www.victronenergy.com/upload/documents/Datasheet-MultiPlus-II-inverter-charger-EN.pdf
