Solar panel installation

Hi guys. Do you see any problems with this proposed installation of 3 strings of 3 panels ( Canadian solar, hiku 410w module... Voc 47,6 v and Isc 11.06A) so each string has an Voc of 142.8 volts. This is to be connected to a RCT axpert 5k with a max Voc of 145v. Thank you

Hi,

Before the rest of the forum jumps in, no it would not be advised to install the panels in 3s3p configuration.  The solar charger starts detariating from 125v and would result in the solar charger stopping production.

Rather install the panels in 4 or 5 strings of 2.  This mean that you have to buy an additional panel or only go with 8 panels.

Also the specs for VOC are at 25C, with a temperature coefficient of -0.29%/°C.  That works out to about 0.4V/°C.

That means that at 20°C you will be at 145V, rising to about 149V at 10°C.

As @Coulomb has stated, the 145V is not a guideline - it is an absolute, do not exceed under any circumstances limit.
