johanza24
Do you have any knowledge of earth leakage not tripping when tested with meter from plug, when on inverter power? I have change-over switch between Eskom and inverter power feeding the earth leakage to all circuits in house. Any advice/feedback Johan
Richard Mackay
How are you testing the EL?
johanza24
Hi V, It trips when you press test button. First time delayed response. Thereafter trips when you press.
johanza24
It did not trip on the in-plug tester at 35-40ma setting.

DDD
Is the neutral of the inverter also ("properly") earthed?
johanza24
Hi Rich It did trip on grid mains, however at higher than the 30ma., Between 35-40ma. Just tested by pressing test button, works fine on inverter power. I am suspecting the earth leakage device [RCD]. Obtained a new device will get electrician to fit and test again. Thanks. johanza24
Hi Erastus, According to the wiring diagram of the installation manual for 5kW Deye the only earth required was between the inverter body and DB earth, which is done. As said I will retest everything after replacing the earth leakage device [RCD] The inverter neutral properly earthed?? What are you meaning by this? Thanks. Some inverters like my own Axpert clone need the bonding between neutral and earth before it would trip with the E/L tester, without the bonding it will not trip the earth leakage. johanza24
Thanks everyone for your feedback and advice. We replaced the earth leak switch and problem solved. Exchanged the Lesco with a Fleischer. Viola!!
Choto
@johanza24 when you say you changed the earth leak switch, do you mean you changed the earth leakage breaker in the DB board?
