  1. I have experienced this as well. There are a few issues here and the BMS on the Shoto is poorly designed and implemented. Heat sync is not effective and reduces life of MOSFETs, so don't expect 10 years. To recover the batteries it is quite simple. You must have a variable voltage and amperage power supply, a minimum of 24 volts. Now group a set of 4 cells together that will give you a high on these of 14 volts. You will find that if you test them their voltage will be around 8 volts, even lower, over-discharged. Set your power supply to 12 volts and 1 amp, 2 if you have a good unit. Leave this for about 2 hours, and the battery supply unit will act as a charger and limit the input to 2 amps. A normal power supply with no amperage control is not suitable as the batteries will absorb as much amperage as possible and this will not float them to the same level. If you are below 45 volts most BMS will not recover the voltage of the battery. Repeat this for all 4 sets, takes a day or so. You are doing this after the BMS so completely bypassed. You will now have 4 sets all at or close to 12 volts each set giving you 48 volts on the battery. If the BMS is not faulty it will start and will then manage the full charge of the battery to the high of 56 volts, and then you must leave this for 45 min on high to allow absorption. Absorption is the process by which the BMS will allow the equalisation of all cells, very important. Recovery of batteries takes a long time and the right power supply, but if you have to do this with a lithium battery, you are purchasing the incorrect battery, and ultimately cheapest is not the best value.

  5. To connect to pylontech batteries You need a RS232 to usb converter which is normally purchased. From the RS 232 you connect to RJ12 with pinouts as above. Open a terminal port in your Mac OS or windows make sure you are Sudo Download a app called screen.. install connect the RS 232 to the console port with the battery switched on first, then to the USB port of your laptop. Check through hardware systems check the USB port address.. eg A10K282M The Pylontech defaults to baud rate 1200 to start.
