Kat I would take the R24k for the geyser and get more Solar Panels, that way you can use the excess PV on other loads as well.

I am in Ekhurhuleni and converted from Tariff B to Tariff A after my Solar installation. On Tariff A you pay a flat fee off R1.81 per Unit and you get 100 units free every month, but don't exceed 600 Units because then it becomes very expensive.

I am currently on Protocol Version：V0.2.0.1 and HMI：VC.3.4.A MAIN_1：V3.8.8.0. Are there any benefits in upgrading firmware and Deye support needs to do the upgrade apparently. Also I asked them to enable me to update settings on the app and this was there response: "To modify the parameters, you need to provide your solarman login account and password, and I will authorize you" Has anyone done this?

Jay, I don't know how tech savy you are but it is possible to get info from solarman into Home Assistant. https://community.home-assistant.io/t/collect-inverter-data-from-solarman-api/328760 You can use this guide to get the data and then use NodeRed to send alerts to Telegram or send a email when the grid is down.

Yes I must say, in winter this setup will draw the battery's flat at night if you want to run the geyser later. My battery only lasts until 2:00 in the morning currently with the one battery. My father started with two batteries on his farm and later added another one, not sure how this impacts the older battery.

Hi Friendly, I went exactly the same route as you are mentioning. I splashed a bit and rather got the 8kw Deye inverter, but could only afford 12 380W panels and one 5.1kw battery. We swopped my Geyser's element with a 3kw element and at this stage when the sun is shining properly the battery and PV carries the geyser. I only run my geyser element from 10:00 to 15:00 but most days the Geyser is at 65 degrees by 12:00 this is when my pool pump comes on and run until 15:00. We also swapped our Gas/Electric oven for a full gass one. My savings so far is around R1500 a month. Hopefully I can buy another 8 to 10 panels and another battery before winter to run the geyser a bit longer.

I also initially wanted to mount it inside because my garage is not connected to my house, eventually decided to lift the paving and I am glad I did.

Why would this be the case it's trying to sell and not sending excess pv to the battery.

Hi All, My father has a Deye inverter on the farm and has no Grid connected. The Installer recently connected his generator to the Gen Port. We set the battery setting to charge batteries from generator. Our issue is the gen only takes load when we switch on anything substantial like a Kettle and does not seem to charge the batteries. I have seen some youtube videos it seems like the gen will only charge the battery if there is no PV input? Is this correct? Jaco

Hi Everyone, I am very new to all things Solar and alternative energy solutions. I have been doing allot of reading and kind of know what I want to install as a phase 1: 5KW Hybrid Inverter 10 x Canadian Solar Panels 1 x Hubble AM-2 Currently I have one 200l Heat Tech Geyser, Gas Oven and Stove Top. What I am unsure off is whether the Geyserwise system is worth the +- R20k or would it be better to spend this money on another Hubble AM-2? Looking forward to some of your opinions. Regards, Jaco
