  1. I did try various power-supplies, none worked, BUT I then found a very old switchable power supply, those with the slider from 3-12V and a +/- polarity switch. This thing puts out a wopping 16v. It works and charges the battery quite nicely... Almost something like this:
  2. OK, it has been 24hrs. Plugged in a 12v .03a power supply into it... (to check orientation and actual function) Will be going the OptiMate route later today...
  3. One more quick question: Will I be able to use my "smart car charger" (OptiMate) to charge the battery?
  4. Hi Guys I got one of these, but would like to charge it from Eskom. Is it as easy as connecting a 12-18v power supply? Sorry for the ignorance.
  5. Unfortunately, my experience with Sun Link Energy (formerly known as SunWiWa) compels me to share this warning. Key Issues: Lack of After-Sales Support: The company fails to honour its after-sales service commitments. Improper Warranty Handling: Attempts to resolve a warranty issue were met with unjustified charges for services that should have been covered under the product warranty. Delayed Communication: It took over six months to receive a response from Martin Hartmann regarding a faulty Pylontech US3000C battery. Unjustified Fees: I was informed by Esme Hartmann (via email) that there would be charges of R1600 (excl. VAT) each for the collection and return of the faulty battery, when question she claimed telephonically these charges were imposed by the distributor, SegenSolar. Contradictory Information from Supplier: Upon contacting SegenSolar directly, I was informed no charges were applicable, contradicting Sun Link Energy's fraudulent claims. Additional Charges: After reporting the issue to SegenSolar, Sun Link Energy changed the narrative and I was informed the total R3680 fee is for removal and time. Pattern of Poor Service: A final screenshot shows that I am not the only customer experiencing issues, highlighting a broader concern. Review Suppression: It appears that negative reviews are being systematically removed by Sun Link Energy, which raises further concerns about transparency and accountability. Conclusion: Based on my experience, I cannot recommend Sun Link Energy. The lack of accountability, transparency, and professionalism, particularly in exorbitant charges for handling warranty claims, is deeply concerning. Prospective customers should proceed with extreme caution.
  6. Hi Guys I am looking for the 19" side bracket that fits onto the battery. I had mine on a table, but lost one set and now it is in a rack mount... Thank you
  7. Thanx @FransJ - I did and it is now running on the 64bit release. Funny thing is I never got the "64bit upgrade" mail/instructions from SA... That said, it is all working now as it should. Going to connect a screen later to enable local monitoring... regards and thanx again Aubrey
  8. Good morning I have been running my SA for about 3 years on a "Raspberry Pi 4 Model B Rev 1.2". I would like to add a screen to monitor the software, but can not see where to configure this. My current setup is: System Localization: English, Africa/Johannesburg Time: 15 Oct, 09:28 Services: Web, Bluetooth CPU Temperature: 56.0 °C USB devices: 5 - view detail Storage: 18% of 16G - view detail Device board: Raspberry Pi 4 Model B Rev 1.2 Software version: 2024-09-30 I am on the BETA program. My next question is, is there a way to "export/import" my configuration if I reload the SA image (64 bit) onto a new SD card? Thank you for your time Aubrey
  9. Hi guys I am trying to unbind myself from a Gateway, but when I use the option the page displays "No Permission". I tried to get hold of SunSynk South Africa and UK, but just end up with a dead phoneline. Anyone who can assist, please? Cheers cyber7 (aka Aubrey)
  10. PS - Anyone interested in the STL for a SINGLE NodeMCU - I did design one...
  11. So, I followed a bit of writing and trying to get what fits my environment and needs 100%. Following the KEG MONITOR steps I ended up with a very nice system. The Afrox supplier I use prints on the bottles the empty weight, so easy to calculate... Go watch the videos and build it, it just works https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=JQKEH5FpHPs&ab_channel=misperry
  12. I have one more link of sustenance : https://github.com/markusressel/ESPHome-Smart-Scale/tree/ff224fb9237d67aeaa87694524277fb3d7fa9950
  13. I have been actively looking into this and found a couple of very interesting things: https://community.home-assistant.io/t/scale-continuous-or-weight-change-sensor-sick-pet/370488/6 - I thin this is exactly what I need https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B091K9L7C7/ref=ox_sc_act_title_1?smid=A3CX4TQNUXMB0L&psc=1 - This is for 2 sets, which I am going to need to get my (1)stove - 9kg - configured and (2)geyser - 19kg - configured For reference, I also found: https://www.hackster.io/uncc-megr-3171l-spring-2021-group-16/pet-food-consumption-tracker-bfe6be - pet food weight https://www.instructables.com/Arduino-Bathroom-Scale-With-50-Kg-Load-Cells-and-H/ - another build to reference for a bathroom scale https://community.home-assistant.io/t/weight-scale/306828 - another weight scale reference at HA https://community.home-assistant.io/t/solved-weigh-kingfishers-with-hx711-any-thoughts-on-how-to-store-results/495029 - this guy weighs birds So, with this ammo, I waiting for the Amazon delivery
  14. This is just about 99.9% what I was looking for ps - I am going to build this in a bit!
  15. Good day I can for the life not find anything that does this: I am looking for a SMART device that I can put onto my GAS BOTTLE (19KG) to monitor flow and from that report capacity. Is there anything like it available? cheers cyber7 (aka Aubrey)
  16. If you look at the board and the data-sheet - URL TO PDF - you will see only a few pins are being used... Should be able to break into the board quite easily by running wireshark and looking at the data coming out of the network...
  17. Confirmed
  18. Jup, but it is going to take just one small upload to overwrite the firmware on that nodemcu
  19. ps - thought about it and it will be easier just plugging a "serial cable" into the inverter...
  20. I am using "Solar Assistant" from December last year, had no outages and can edit my settings directly from the panel. It is available remotely (using your cellphone) and you can edit your settings remotely. I am also using a SunSynk WiFi dongle that I am going to either hi-jack or break open as it has a standard NCU chip inside it. But, if you want the best option (imo) use the Solar Assistant option. you will not be sorry. I pump the data from Solar Assistant into Excel and draw graphs to show me my returns... cheers Aubrey (aka cyber7)
  21. As per the subject: I would like to know if anyone started a project of collecting local data from a SunSynk WiFi Dongle? I am sick of server-outages and lost data and am thinking of either hi-jacking the traffic (on my router) to SunSynk's cloud storage or cracking open the dongle and re-programming the NCU chip... My Question: Has anyone thought or started something like this? regards Aubrey (aka cyber7) ps - as an afterthought, this could even work for that "other" dongle we all got with our systems for free
  22. Hi guys anyone interested? I have a 2gb for R1. 3k, 4gb for R1.6k and 8gb for R1.9k. These have been used previously. regards cyber7 (aka Aubrey - I am in Cape Town) All sold...
  23. Going to try nodered, as the "dash" of HA is a tad limiting. Will start looking at the Nodered environemt soon... ps - will I be able to run nodered in a VM or do I need to run is on a PI?
  24. OK, what would I use on the 2nd PI to do the automation? I already have a working Home Assistant reading the MQTT values, so I presume that will be it? Will I be able to use other people's dashboards?
  25. As per the topic: Will I have to remove the Solar Assistant PI before I can start with Nodered? Some of the things I envision to do: Scripting - ability to distinguish between weekdays and weekends for geyser usage. The ability to see both my PV Power devices. a different dashboard... I was also wondering if I could not just make up a RJ45 "duplicator" (1-to-2 device), not a splitter, to read the information from the Inverter by 2 devices? regards Aubrey
