  1. Can anyone recommend a good solar installer in Midrand? I got quoted slightly more than R50K for the installation of 16 panels and 2 batteries to my existing setup. This included the mounting brackets for a corrugated steel roof, cabling between the panels and DB (10metres) and all the extra bits and bops. It excludes the batteries and panels themselves, which I sourced myself. There's enough space on my inverters for the additional strings. Seems a bit excessive, or is that the going rate?
  2. Has anyone dealt with https://solar-sa.co.za/?
  3. For working out the Max Kw how does that affect the equation? I'm unfortunately ignorant of the various electricity units.
  4. Are they paying R1458 just for supply? That seems...excessive 😐 Once downgraded at least it should go down to R250 p/m. But yea, eventually it becomes so expensive it's worthwhile to go completely off the grid.
  5. Thanks, what calculation did you use to get to that?
  6. I'm getting charged a whopping R560 a month for a 3-phase connection. My actual usage is usually around R300 - most of my power comes from solar. I noticed on my bill there's a NOTIFIED MAX DEMAND 50.00 line item, and with a bit of reading I saw some people "downgrade" their Eskom line to a lower amount to lessen the network connectivity charge. So I'm unsure what amount of KW can be pulled from that 50a on a three-phase (I assume it's amps?). Anybody know?
  7. Peter what do you do for a living? I read this thread and wish I had your technical skills!
  8. Just went for a massive 24KW inverter that can handle the current borehole. It's not elegant, but c'est la vie!
  9. I need someone that can give some guidance. Googled and found some suppliers that can give a quote on the borehole depth and pump size. Tried to look around the pump but I can't see an obvious place where either of those are mentioned on the borehole. In Midrand, if anyone knows of a good supplier that can have a look and advise please let me know!
