  1. Thank you very much for the advice Chris. It has been 3 days since I changed the setting to "Appliance". Since then the inverters have not disconnected from the grid once. I had to downgrade the status of Eskom from "Stable" to "Unstable". Eskom now has the same rating as a Generator in my books = Crap. It is probably because Eskom now generates grid power with "Maintenance" diesel generators running 24/7. Those generators were deigned to run for 3 hours at a time, while doing maintenance.

  3. I have 2 x Axpert 5KVA inverters connected in parallel. For some reason they disconnect from the grid and change over to battery power for a few seconds, then goes into bypass mode and then reconnects the batteries and resumes normal operation. Initially I picked this up during charging the batteries. I thought it changed over to battery power to check the battery charge status under load or something, but then I realized it happens a few times a day, even when the batteries are fully charged. When the grid power fails, the change over to inverters and batteries as backup happens very fast. When the inverters disconnect from grid as explained above, it is a much slower process. My desktop computer UPS alarms to indicate that they have activated, the lights on the fridges blink while all this is happening. In some instances it disconnects and connects to the the grid 2-4 times before resuming normal operation. I am afraid my fridges and TV's will not last long with them being switched on and off 5-6 times a day in quick succession. Any help would be appreciated.
  4. Dual axis are very effective as your panels will always face the sun at the correct angle, therefore optimizing the efficiency of your solar panels. I don't have a big battery bank, but I have a wife that knows how to get the fans running at high speed on my inverters. She gets up in the morning and switches on the aircon in the bedroom. Goes to the kitchen and switches on the kettle for coffee. Goes to the fridge to get the milk. Leaves the fridge door open until she puts the milk back. Take some left over food from the fridge and slaps it into the microwave to heat it up. Take out the washing from the washing machine and stuff it into the tumble drier and loads another wash in the washing machine. Put all the dishes in the dish washing machine and gets it going. Walks to the oven and turns the dial to 200 degrees saying, "I am going to bake a cake today." I stand there flabbergasted with my hands on my hips and she says "What?" Probably not. It would take a few years to get a return on your money. As JDP said, if you have the space, add more panels to make up for the losses. That would probably be the cheaper option. I personally don't like to combat inefficient solar panels by adding more inefficient solar panels to make up for the losses. I bought 12 x 300w Solar panels, which my inverters can handle comfortably. To make up for the inefficiency and losses, I would have to add another 4 solar panels. (So Zuma is corrupt and inefficient. Therefore, to make up for it, we clone him and add another Zuma to the Presidency to make up for the inefficiency? That does not make sense to me.) With 16 panels I would be pushing the limits on my inverters and probably blow something. I made a decision to stick to the 12 solar panels and to install a Deger Energie dual axis solar tracker to get the maximum performance out of my solar panels.
  5. I never read the manual. Manuals are for dummies, lol. Only joking. I somehow missed the part about the solar panels that need to be connected. I am also running the patched firmware. Works fine for me to date. I will only know for sure once I connect up my solar panels.

  8. I have no idea. I cannot find anything inside or on the label with the words MK or MKS.
  9. My RTC 5KVA inverters came with firmware 72.40 and no CPU2 firmware. I updated the firmware to 72.60A and thought I would add the CPU2 firmware as well to 4.1. For some reason I cannot flash my inverters with 4.1. I get a Debug Assertion Failed message. Can someone please inform me what the purpose of the CPU2 firmware is and do I really need to install it?
