  1. Good day, I’d appreciate some advice regarding the use of solar power (PV panels) in combination with the Inge MPPR PV Geyser Element Controller. System details: Geyser: Kwikhot Superline 150L Dual Geyser (600kPa) Element: Kwikhot confirms it uses a 3kW spiral element Questions: Is the Inge MPPR controller the best option for this setup, or are there alternative models I should consider? Should I opt for the 3kW or 4kW version of the Inge controller? How many PV panels would you recommend? I’ve been advised to use 2 × 460W panels—does that sound sufficient? Would this setup be able to power just one geyser, or could it support more? Can the Inge controller be mounted near my existing inverter and PV array, or does it need to be installed close to the geyser itself? This approach seems significantly more cost-effective compared to retrofitting evacuated tube systems. Would you agree? Any insights or recommendations would be greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance!
  2. Thank you all. I appreciate your insights. I was confused as it was suggested not to go over your inverter's capacity. Hence why i bought and had installed 10x 460W panels.

My current setup: Sunsynk 5kW hybrid inverter 2 × 5kWh Sunsynk lithium batteries 10 × 460W Canadian Solar panel Now would the following be beneficial: adding 2 more panels (for a total of 12 × 460W = 5,520W)? will the additional 2x panels be utilized and not wasted? (Obviously, if inverter and MPPT inputs are correctly configured) Will the extra panels be utilised? If Sunsynk 5kW hybrid inverter supports up to 6,500W DC input, then is the 5,520W within spec? Will inverter’s MPPTs track and harvest power from both strings efficiently? Will the extra panels help: Boost output during cloudy or low-light conditions? Charge the 10kWh battery bank more quickly Provide more solar for daytime loads, reducing grid draw Thanks

  8. Yes they do. The local agents are Herholdts who cover them and covered the Sunsynk batteries - Sun-batt, which was EEnovance branded as Sunsynk. I'm sure there is a way to add in a third EEnovance. Herholdts would be the best to ask.

  11. I am seeking some advice regarding my battery upgrade. I am planning to add a 5.32kW battery to my existing 5kW inverter, but I have been informed that Sunsynk has discontinued its batteries. As a result, I would need to purchase a 5.32kW Eenovance battery, which was originally the manufacturer behind Sunsynk batteries. I understand that the Eenovance battery must be set as the master, while the existing Sunsynk (Sun-Batt) battery would function as the slave (see attached document). Additionally, firmware updates for the Eenovance battery would be managed via Wi-Fi, whereas the Sunsynk battery would require a manual PC connection for updates. There are still some Sunsynk batteries available, but here’s the issue: they are approximately R8,000 more expensive than Eenovance batteries, plus an additional R3,600 installation fee. Given that Eenovance originally manufactured Sunsynk, is it really worth spending the extra R8,000 for a Sunsynk battery even though there might be a firmware update issue? I was quoted the fee for installing an additional battery by the original installer and supplier, but on another forum, I was advised that the cost is too high. What would be a reasonable price? I would greatly appreciate your opinion on whether Sunsynk or Eenovance would be the better long-term investment and an acceptable instalation fee for 1 battery. Thank you.   15. I have a 5kW Sunsynk inverter and battery installed. I'm going to add 10x 460W panels. The installer mentioned that he will connect the main geyser to the back end of the inverter to warm water with surplus solar energy. As I have two geysers next to each other – main bathroom and second bathroom - seldom used, is the following an option: Connect the two geysers to each other, heat the second one with solar energy, which in turn will feed the main geyser with hot water, and then the main geyser’s thermostat will maintain the temperature? If the second geyser is then needed, to only supply the second bathroom, its thermostat can be switched on and diverted back to the second bathroom. Is this a viable solution, or should I not involve the second geyser? Any other suggestions to enhance the system would be appreciated.
  16. Are 'notifications' enabled on your Sunynk app? I know that Sunsynk app had issues with the reconnect notification and they have disabled it currently. But the disconnect one works.

  18. I need some clarity re Sunsynk Inverter and App POWER FLOW please: I flicked the switch to the Grid position – wanted to run house directly from Grid and not through Inverter or the battery. But the Sunsynk app Power Flow showed that power was coming from the Grid to the Battery and not to the House (screenshot appended). Inverter showed the Battery as being full at 99%. Is it correct how it’s showing it? I would have thought it would have shown the power from the Grid to Home. No panels installed currently. Any explanation would be appreciated.
  19. As per Sunsynk advice. We moved the EMI filter from under the hob. Sunsynk specified that the filter is specked for the 5KW inverter and should be between the inverter and grid port, this then will not have any current draw through this filter to go to hob. If not done, I would have to buy a 30+A filter if it remained under hob. Thankfully, Hob now works well.
  20. Some feedback. The good news: the problem has been resolved. Sunsynk gracefully supplied an EMI Filter (n/c) which was installed and now the Smeg Hob works. Thanks to all for the discussion and advice.
  21. I've been told that EMI model must also be according to the frequency of the inverter as well. Does that make sense?
