Jan.Nel reacted to Benji in Cooling Sunsynk 5kWMy inverter is installed in my garage and during summer it gets quite hot in Bloemfontein. When you park a hot car in there it gets even hotter. I realized the Inverter DC side reached temperatures of near 90 degrees during midday. I installed 3 x 120mm computer fans on top with a temperature controller switching the fans on and off. The thermistor is attached to the heatsink. The heatsink temperature is about 20 degrees below the internal temperature indicating by the app. With the fans the temperature stays below 60 degrees.
I 3D printed the bracket and bought the temperature controller from an online store for under R200 with a 12V powersupply. Is anybody is interested visit Thingiverse:Thing6468217 to get the STL files for the bracket. (Search Sunsynk 5kW)

Jan.Nel reacted to GreenFields in Advice please - Deye 5kW inverter battery settings with three Dyness 100Ah batteriesMaybe double-check with your installer first what battery cable sizes and fuses, etc. are in place. Just looking at the inverter and batteries, personally I'd go with 100A charge and 115A discharge, but that's not gold-standard values.

Jan.Nel reacted to CobusK in Advice please - Deye 5kW inverter battery settings with three Dyness 100Ah batteriesYes, this is the correct settings. Remember to power down the system before changing the Dip switch settings
I apologize, I am slow 😆

Jan.Nel reacted to GreenFields in Advice please - Deye 5kW inverter battery settings with three Dyness 100Ah batteriesGlad to hear it's sorted, so 300Ah is fine to note as your installed capacity. Only obvious last comment is that the inverter has its own max charge/discharge rate of 115A if I recall, so you could just check that that limit value and insert it (or even a touch less) is set on the inverter's Battery Settings screen.

Fully aggree with GreenFields

Jan.Nel got a reaction from GreenFields in Advice please - Deye 5kW inverter battery settings with three Dyness 100Ah batteriesSo...I did more searches and research, and I believe the dip switch configs are incorrect.
I have followed the "solar system shutdown procedure" and switched the entire system off.
Changed the dip switches correctly for Deye & Dyness for Master/Slave according to the Manual, followed the "solar system start-up procedure" and got the system up and running.
Now my Li-BMS is reporting much better - Charge & Discharge current is 150A and 150A 🙌
Thank you guys 😅

Jan.Nel reacted to GreenFields in Advice please - Deye 5kW inverter battery settings with three Dyness 100Ah batteriesThis value - Discharge Limit: 50A - is suggesting that the BMS is only recognising one battery connected.
Try this: On the inverter's Battery Settings, make sure the discharge current is 100A. Then disconnect the grid, ie. just turn off the mains switch. Next turn of the PV switch on the underside of the inverter. Then try to run around 3-4kW of appliances from battery only. A kettle and a toaster turned on at the same time should do it.
I'm suspecting your system will trip out with a DC fault at around 2.5kW load, which would suggest that the battery installation is incorrect, maybe dip switches or something like that.
I could be very wrong. Dalk weet hulle wat ek nie weet nie.

Jan.Nel reacted to JayMardern in Advice please - Deye 5kW inverter battery settings with three Dyness 100Ah batteriesSince you're using Li-BMS mode, the Capacity you specify in Ah doesn't actually get used. If you swap to AGM%, then the inverter will use the value to calculate SOC (in my experience it's pretty accurate as well).
Instead in your case, the battery BMS will handle it for you.
However something else doesn't look right: if each battery has a 'Recommended Discharge Current' of 50A, then three batteries should be higher than the 50A limit we see on-screen. Perhaps check that the comms between batteries (and also the dip switches that give each battery the correct role: i.e., master vs slave) are correct according to the manual?

Jan.Nel reacted to GreenFields in Advice please - Deye 5kW inverter battery settings with three Dyness 100Ah batteriesMaybe someone else knows better, but this sounds strange. What is the Li-BMS screen reporting? Basically, nevermind the Deye's manual settings, is the battery communicating that you've got 300Ah installed?

Jan.Nel reacted to Oom Tas in Advice please - Deye 5kW inverter battery settings with three Dyness 100Ah batteriesHi Jan
Looks like the added batteries are not in communication with the inverter (see attached pics of mine with 1, 2 and 3 batteries in service)
It update the displayed value automatically. Most likely dip switch settings issues.

Jan.Nel reacted to LudwigL in Deye Inverter Load - Essentials, Non-Essentials and Solar Assistant monitoringKeep the export to CT enabled but untick the Limit to Load. Mine does the same however when the limit to load is un-ticked I see the total house usage being displayed on the inverter screen which matches what Solar Assistant reports on. (Essentials and non-essenetials being displayed).
Also when you have "limit to load" enabled then any access PV power in day will only supply your essentials, all non-essentials will use ESKOM so have it unticked if you want the non-essentials powered by PV via the CT.

Jan.Nel reacted to anthonyhugo in What to do, Deye 8kW inverter issuesHi all just to report back, all my issues seem to be sorted now and was as a result of a loose connection on the busbar between batteries and inverter! eish!
We now double checked all connections and added new washers on both sides of the lugs to hopefully prevent this (I think they're called serrated star washers)
My installer will have a stern talk to he's team, we're all human after all and mistakes happen, I'm just grateful this didn't cause a fire or damaged our equipment (it seems)
Thanks
Ant

Jan.Nel got a reaction from anthonyhugo in What to do, Deye 8kW inverter issues@anthonyhugo - My Deye 5kW inverter was installed last week.
Do you see the battery information on LCD screen for BMS?
It could be issues with the CAN cables.
