I have the same issue thanks for raising it here for others to see. Getting no resolution from Sunsynk, been going on for a month. They reset firmware and data loggers and tried everything still nothing. Have you had any luck? 

Any progress on this issue?  I’m seeing the same behaviour on our recently installed Sunsynk 8kW inverter, with the timer shifting random amounts, typically half an hour but several hours if I turn Sync off.  Sunsynk really need to fix this!

I've learnt so much since that post of mine. Firstly, not to hijack. Secondly, 1C batteries for the win. I ended up installing an AM2, and almost 2 years later, I added another AM2. Happy with my setup, except that I should have gone with an 8kw. The upgrade now is so pricy, almost does not make sense.

For me although I've had some teething problems for a hybrid I am generally pleased with my Sunsynk.
That's a Sol ark or Deye in certain territories.
Views will vary and Deye who manufacture them leave regional licences to promote and support the product.
As with all some are good at ther jobs others are dreadful.
The good news is there is lots of knowledge and friendly helpful people here whatever you choose. 
My last thought is if your not experienced with electricity read a lot and get help if required. 

My only thought and don't know your circumstance is it always worth doing agood job and keeping it tidy, although you may be comfortable with a relaxed diy setup it can look and be safer for others if you spend a little more time.
As you sugest some conduit and wall plugs would be a good step towards a better system. 

May I sugest just making one.
Crimps are cheap cable even cheaper.
Lots of wiring diagrams for different inverters and lots of help here.
There is not much you can do wrong with a data cable it works or it doesn't work if common sence used.

It depends on your circumstances. I have the growatt and it does all I need it to do. I had to change my 4kw geyser element to a 2 kw one and connected the geyser to the inverter now I'm making full use of my 16(360watt) panels.
I wanted to upgrade to the deye or sunsynk to feed my loads before the inverter which I solved by connecting everything to the inverter. No loads before the inverter for me.
If you live in a municipality where they pay you for feeding in your excess pv then the sunsynk is better but I don't live in one of those municipalities. 
So for me where I live with no loads before the inverter the growatt is the best option for me.

Can't comment on the growatt inverters but I'm sure if you check posters here who installed them, most of them would opt for the sunsynk over the growatt inverter. 
I would also go with the sunsynk over the Deye as the user interface on the sunsynk is much more modern and intuitive. 
8 months of running the sunsynk and it just works.

Ok so 250ah 48v battery bank that is if my maths don't fail me 12.5kwh battery bank.You could charge these cells @ C/5 250/5 =50 Amps and absorption @ C/ 15= 17 amps and by this stage you are at 8hours charging then final stage equalization C/30 = 8 amps and 10hours later. With LS you don’t have that time between stages. I had a client with exactly the same setup with endless battery problems until he saw the light and we installed FW 10/8 and his problems where solved to date. Sorry to be the bearer of bad news but these batteries are not designed for solar applications.

Many thanks, I have tried the manual setting, sadly it is worse, I note your comment on the dongle, I have found for those interested it is an ESP device often used for home assistant and automation. 

Under the "Battery type", "Charge Amps" you can set the max charging amps. For off grid use, and with working comms to batteries, let the BMS charge the batteries to 100%, and ignore the timer for now.
