A Single input mppt ... planning on using 23 degree tilt east and west( our Lattitude puts us 13 degrees to the sun)... from using the panels (bifacial) as awnings at the end of the roof line (12 meters apart) to hopefully catch some reflection, 2s3p each side with 6mm solar cable ... combine three 32 amp dc circuit breakers for each of the three 2series positive cables on each array ...crimp three 6mm fly leads to a 10mm cable for positive and negative, and run the 10mm to a 2 pole DC 80amp circuit breaker.then into 10kw inverter ....I'm hoping this will work ...I know Il be throttling the inverter ...but it's the winter/ bad clouding days I'm aiming for...does this sound doable ?...we use about 5.7 kw breakfast and dinner times. Any suggestions you may have are warmly welcomed

I'm contemplating doing 2s6p on a east west configuration ...my question is how to configure splitting the 12 panels 6 on each side ...?

  6. Ok thankyou... I had originally planned using the north facing garden fence line for the panels portrait style, utilising the shade for our seedlings...however since I've learnt about east west configuration ( which suits our house orientation ) ,I'm now considering of this set up using the panels as window shading on both sides of the house ...hoping to not peak the panels ?
  7. I did some testing today ....I'm not sure what the tests can mean yet ....I'm thinking maybe 2 strings of 5 in parallel and accept the clipping...east west config at 23 degrees? This is just a guess I'm definitely open for better ideas. Thanks
  8. Today I did some testing . To date I've only been running 1 string with two panels in series... while I'm still exploring where and how I'm going to mount my other 10 panels.... This has been running 96volts around 12amps. So First i tested the 1 string with three panels in series ....at 115 volts (earlier morning ) the fans kept switching on and off.( Zero load) Then I went to 2 strings with two panels in series on each string.....the volts hovered around the mid 90s ...and around 24amps dropping up and down regularly ...and the fans stayed off . At this time my wife had started cooking so not the best time I guessed to keep testing. From what I've tried so far the inverter prefers to be happy at the 105volts as per the label on its cabinet. Will carry on testing tomorrow if I can ( with pics)
  9. I agree 👍 thanks for your help much appreciated 🙂
  10. Sorry what I meant was 3 panels in series 4 strings in parallel
  11. Yes that's what I was thinking... I asked the shop where I got the inverter from about this configuration...the tech guy said the inverter can only use 43 amps so 4 strings in series was his recommendation
  12. I'm interested in more information about this type array could 4 strings work better or worse

  14. A Great read ...most of our load is breakfast and dinner ...so an east west seems to be a better option for our household .... questions I have is... 1,being 13degrees (Zambia) should I incline the panels more for winter and catch more morning and evening sun ? 2 I have 4strings would there be an advantage to split the strings either side ...or two in parallel both sides ? Thanks in advance for your help

  16. Or would the extra amps just be wasted/ not used ?
  17. I'm now curious as I'm learning more.......if the preferred vmp voltage is 60-105v ...would bumping up the amps be more advantageous by running 6 strings of 2 in series?
