    That's fine.
I usually prefer not to cut a nice cable if I don't have to, especially if things are not quite settled yet, but I see no reason why you can't cut into this cable if you have to, eg to fit a fuse of some kind. I would not add length for the sake of length, only if really needed. No need to balance lengths either, since the linking cables Pylontech supply with the racks is already sized correctly for paralleling.
Indeed, as the battery goes over 96% SoC you will usually see that the BMS starts to lower the charge current limit. Also, if temperature rises it will do the same. The BMS will however disconnect if you overdo it, and the batteries can take quite some punishment, so this "problem" isn't too much of a problem. Though it would be nice of course :-)

I've installed a 100a thermal breaker. It has tripped once so does its job.
I have not installed comms cable between the infini and pylontechs. The bms do all the work and work fine all the time.
The one "problem" ( according to me) is that it will charge at 48a (the setting used) irrespective of the soc of the batteries. My logic dictates that it should be otherwise.
After running the system since Feb I would have loved it if it was setup for 24a charging rate. It would mean less stress on the inverter and the whole system even though the charge time would double. I use mine as a backup battey system so I use the mains supply for charging.

Dude... I almost blew up a scope probe 3 weeks ago when I accidentally shorted two pylontech racks (we were checking DC ripple, I didn't know that metal ring just 5mm away from the tip of the probe was grounded)... it made the most almighty spark and while we got a low voltage warning from the inverter the battery did not disconnect. Put a fuse in... :-)

I decided against that option, not above board. So will go with single Pylontech for now and build it up. Again, thank you to this community for great, great advice and input!

From the SP Technical Manual  I got:

In this case if you can safely discharge 30%, at 30% DOD you will get the most cycles from them (1200)
The banks Capacity is 200ah x 48 volt = 9.6 Kw of which you can safely use 2.88kw everyday for 1200 cycles (3.29 years). This will cost you R10k.
From this T105 Data Sheet i got:

8 x Trojan T105 6V 225Ah will offer 10.8 Kw of which you can safely use 5.4 kw (50%) every day for 1200 cycles (3.29 years). This will cost you R20.7k.
And then from this Pylontech Sheet  i got:

A 2.4kw Pylontech can offer you 1.92kw (80 %) everyday for an estimated 6000 cycles  (16.4 years or10 year design life)  and this will cost you R15k and some change for a control cable and software.
If i were you, I would rather go for the Pylontech and expand in the future as funds becomes available.

What make are these? With any lead acid there is a Limit to what you can use, and  that is between 10% and 50%, with 50% being about the max depending on the Brand.
With Pylontech you can discharge up to 80% of the available power. Pylons are your best option as you can add new modules ofer time, with lead acids, you have max 6 months to add, after that it becomes to risky.
In short, With good trojans you can discharge to 50% for 1600 cycles, with pylons you can discharge to 20% for 6000 cycles. But i will need to know what batteries you want to buy to make a direct comparison.

Yes. But I was working from the theory that you just need something small to get started and avoid the current issue. Even if you decide to go larger, this remains one of the better value for money batteries.
Yes, the battery can deliver 2C (twice capacity) or more discharge rates for a short time. So 5kw peak, but ideally you should keep loads to around 600w. The idea is that you use your power directly for loads as you do now, the battery is just there for a little bit of backup AND to avoid the current tripping issue. Plus, being an LFP item, you can add more modules later.
Yes, 4.8kwh (since their capacity is 200Ah), but maximum discharge rate for a lead acid is C/5, or 40A, and ideally you want C/10 or lower discharge rates, so it also puts you at around 1kw of lower for the loads.
So very well matched... it's essentially trading cycle life for storage capacity.

What about a single pylontech rack? Around 15k a pop.

You have a strange situation there. I would like to find out the cause of the trip. No my inveter doesn't have a setting like that.
I will read up a bit and see if i can find anything else.

Please try grid tie with back up 2 and the rest the same as here.
    Lets see if that works.
If it doesn't, I wonder if my Infinis will run without batteries, maybe i can test this on my system.
  13. Thanks

I looked at the manual. please try the following. Grid tie with backup 1, set battery Charging source to "None", set Load supply source to PV 1st, Grid 2nd, Battery Third.
    That should do the trick.

Firstly, let me apologize for making you wait 2 days. I am running around like crazy and when I get change for the forum, I only scan, I dont read all the threads. Only saw your post now.
Yes it seems so. Something tells your inverter to use PV only when PV becomes available, but early morning you only have a few watts available and your load most probably exceed your PV and the unit trips.

This doesn't seem correct, can you please link us to the Manuel, i just want to see what all your options are.
