Geyser Switch - Between Non-Essential and Essential
Yes just a normal change over switch we have one installed but basically leave it on essentials most of the time.. Plus CBI Astute isolators and Geyserwise on the Geysers

Wireless contactors - any good?
The only time i have had offline notifications is if Eskom is down and device is on non-essentials side of inverter or if the CB going to the device is off or Tripped. There is manual override button on the front of the ASC, which works great if you want geyser etc. on or off just press the button. Timer, Scheduling etc. is all done from the app and the only time the timer failed to activate is when device or CB is off My WiFi is always on but can test what happens if it is offline or if cbi cloud is unavailable.. not that I have experienced any of those so far.

CBI Astute ? https://cbi-lowvoltage.co.za/asp-qr I use the ASC for Geyser, Pool Pump etc. https://cbi-lowvoltage.co.za/asc Builders has them priced at R498.. currently https://www.builders.co.za/Electrical/Plugs,-Sockets-%26-Switches/Smart-Electrical/CBI-Astute-Smart-Controller---Grey-Black/p/000000000000744335?gclid=CjwKCAjwl6OiBhA2EiwAuUwWZYT_UvW67nCUwi8aXGSSfOXEF0Vd7H4VADF1nnfX3ktoo_TEWQPbvxoCzxkQAvD_BwE

Awesome feedback Thanks Geyser etc. on Non Essentials is fine would just like the ability and savings of feeding excess solar back to reduce grid usage if possible looking at a similar setup but if it is only essentials 8kw will be overkill for us was just asking support if it is possible to go with 1x battery initially and add more of needed later on

gosolr Any Experience or Installs with them ?
Thanks That is useful to know that you are not locked out so you must basically size the system to cover from sunrise to sunset or do they allow you to Grid charge if needed? not that it is ideal..

Thanks How was the Solar Advice experience? Do they also only power essentials and do not export to Geyser, Pool Pump

gosolr Any Experience or Installs with them ?
Thanks I am assuming these settings can’t be changed and system only powers lights, plugs etc. as they manage the system as stipulated Any extra cost for splitting db etc. and install location?

gosolr Any Experience or Installs with them ?
Thanks That is basically what I have see. as well looking at Hello Peter slightly concerned with support but I have experienced with most installers after sales support is non existent due to the workload they have with new installs currently, i just go directly to the supplier for assistance. De Installation Fee R30,000 start then seems to depreciate after 3 years or so, no concrete items in documentation on that. That is a bit of a concern but manageable Flat Roof Fee R7340 and callout fees R650.. 20-30 days notice is important.. but does seem to suite my dads scenario of retiring in the cape soon.. not planning a long term.. They’re payments also doesn’t seem to make a dent on the capital outlay in they’re documentation even after 8 years you sit with 200k.. to pay off so not good for longterm but 3-5 years of use/rent seems good call centre sales was good and did mention 6-8 weeks waiting period but as soon as deposit is made the quicker you get on the list they say.. had a look at Alumo as well but they want a big 10k deposit upfront but similar pricing R3k a month but for a smaller size system..

Victron Revov battery discharge limits
Yes correct they did say we need more batteries and that the system’s batteries are undersized. We are planning on adding some at a later stage.

Hi All 3phase Victron user joining
Hi All, Have been reading and browsing forum for a while decided to say Hi we have a 3phase system running victron to help reduce eskom costs our system is as follows: 3x5Easy,30/295,10kwRevov 1x EasySolar 48/5000/70 MPPT 150/100 2x MultiPlus 48/5000/70 1x BlueSolar Charger MPPT 150/70 30x Canadian Solar 295W (CS3K-295P) - Total 8,850 W Color Control GX 3-Phase Energy Meter ET340 BMV-700 𝘙𝘌𝘝𝘖𝘝: R9 2nd LiFe ES2-8 2 x 200 Ah 2nd LiFe (lithium iron phosphate) batteries Built-In battery monitoring system Tian Power BMS

Victron Revov battery discharge limits
Hi All , some background on the system it is a 3phase solar system with 3x 48/5000 Multiplus Inverter/Chargers 2x Victron MPPT (1x BlueSolar 150/70; 1x SmartSolar 150/100) and 30x 295W Canadian Solar Panels Then we have a 10 kWh Revov R9 2nd LiFe battery set with Tian BMS and Victron BMV battery monitor we recently got the batteries back from revov after having some issues with it dying at 60% SOC so far so good but they did mention there was a discharge spike of around 200A which blew some fuses inside the unit. From what I observed that only happens when running in inverter only mode and sometimes on ESS w/o BatteryLife mode even with the correct inverter power limit set. as can be seen on below VE bus graph, when a big load kicked in +- 3000W BMV shows a less significant spike As well as the System battery measurement graph revov says the max discharge limit is 150A and can sustain a 100A draw. 1st question or advice needed do I follow the BMV or the VE bus data? as from what i can see understand the VE bus also reflects solar power. anything else we can do to limit the discharge spikes from damaging batteries again? so far we have installed cbi astutes on all big critical loads and also moved some of the constant big draw circuits off critical loads and onto non-critical/ ac loads. from what i read this is a common problem on the victron ess system according to victron forums and they seem to be hesitant to introduce a current limit feature as well, stating that the inverter power limit should suffice.
