Looking to install a domestic solar system, 8kw Sunsync with 14,2 kw solar MD battery and 12 PV panels. The house is in security estate and one of their rules is that the frame of the solar panels must be dark gray, preferably matt black and not the standard aluminum colour. We were quoted on the Axitec black premium XL HC 360watt, made in Germany but would prefer a higher wattage panels. Can anybody help with recommendations ? Cape Town installation thank you

Not worth the money or trouble for any domestic user to feed back into the grid in SA. CoCT is like a mafia and they punish you for helping them out with your excess generation.

Goodwe updated the firmware today to 1212114, keeping my fingers crossed I don't have any issues with the PV master or Sems apps, people report problems with unstable wifi of the inverter. Pity that the inverter does not have a RJ45 port for wired connection

I have a re-occurring problem with my Goodwe inverter. Although it is set up on general mode, when I wake up in the morning I find the battery to be fully charged which means that during the night instead of the house using power from the battery, the battery is charging from the grid. This happens from time to time and the only way to correct it is to power down the inverter and restart. In February my solar installer arranged to have the firmware reloaded but after 2 months the problem started again. Anybody else has this problem ?

The neutral line is Eskom's earth and the earth wire is the home's earth. It is safe to connect them together. At my house these 2 wires have always been connected together before the connection to the old rotary meter. The rotary meter has been replaced with a prepaid meter to satisfy CoCT that I do not export any extra power from my solar installation

Thanks Pierre, interesting reading which makes sense. I had my system installed with 9 panels facing N, 7 months ago, and I was considering adding 4 panels E and 4 panels W to increase the generating hours. I will monitor it for full 12 months period to understand better the capacity vs my needs and decide accordingly.

Is it wise to connect all strings of PV panels in parallel if they are not looking at the same direction? Wouldn't affect their generating capacity ?
