  1. A standard pallet typically holds between 31 and 36 solar panels, depending on the manufacturer and the physical size of the module

  4. it makes perfect sense to connect each array to different MPPT, the 2 arrays don't have to be at the same voltage

  6. Beat, read this tech note regarding cable lengths and importance of using the same thickness cable for all the batteries
  7. If the inverters are set correctly, they can't affect much the solar generation. Victron has proven reliability with excellent back up service, Sunsynk however has a better "round trip efficiency ". Both are highly recommended for home installations in SA

  10. Hi guys, those of us that have invested in a solar system and are located near Cape Town, we are will get a shock when we see the new rates that are designed to punish us. The less electricity you buy, the higher the increase will be. Go the the https://web1.capetown.gov.za/web1/rtcalc/ and see how the new rates will affect you. The less electricity you buy, the higher the increase will be. mine will be 20,84% higher for the same services, I find these proposed increases to be criminal. They are mafia style extortion fees. We have until tomorrow, 2 May to object, send your email to [email protected]

  12. the blue power of Victron, reliable inverters that would most probably last for a life time

  15. If the PV panels have 25 years warranty, then all fittings, brackets and cabling must have at least 25 years warranty as well. I have seen a couple of DIY solar panel installations on cheap aluminum brackets that will not even last 10 years. Let this incident be a warning to all people who want to install solar on their roof and make sure that they use professional & certified solar installers
  16. A Victron inverter will cope much better than a Deye/Sunsync inverter

  20. That is correct, the 6 x E & 6 x W arrangement will work fine, the panels will start producing earlier and stay on longer than the true N orientation. Winter time is not the best time to monitor their performance.
  21. Having a generator to charge your batteries during the cloudy days via the inverter it means that you can be off grid for good
  22. it happened when the loadshedding starts and the victron takes over. My solar installation is 3 years old, never had the EL trip before so clearly it was due to the surge protected plug that I used
  23. I got the same problem after replacing the common 16Amp plug of my fridge with a surge protected plug ( by Zak speed). I have a professional solar installation with Victron mulriplus inverter and every time the loadshedding starts and while the Victron takes over the earth leakage trips. If I try to simulate the problem by switching off the mains manually, the EL will not trip. So I removed the surge protected plug for now while looking for either another make ( perhaps Ellies) or another solution to protect the fridge.
