I'm not following this statement- are you saying my consumption as a whole makes no sense as it is too high or too low? We were on post paid and have seen a +/-10% cost reduction since going prepaid

Tx for the feedback guys. Here is some further info: - I actually have 2 x 150L geysers however to mu knowledge only one is powered - The geyser has a senesable monitor fitted to it- its' primary purpose is leak detection. - The app only has 2 settings- Set Temp, Set on/off times. - I have pulled the data over the last year which shows an average usage of 557kWh per month. - The geyser is set to run continuous - The reason I have not set on/ off times, is I've read that it takes the same amount of energy to keep it hot over a period vs having it heat it from scratch at times Next question: - We are a small family of 4 wife and 2 kids - Our hot water needs are: showers between 5am to 7am and again 4pm to 7pm and hot water to wash dishes - Should I adjust the on/off times and if so is 60mins sufficient to heat the water again? Tx

Hey Guys My ultimate goal is off grid- however I am doing this in bite sized pieces. I am looking to tackle my geyser 1st however a few questions: We have a smart geyser that allows me to set the max temp and track usage etc. Question 1 - We average around R850 per month based on the app, however my full pre paid spend is never less than R2500/ month in Summer and+/- R5500/ in Winter. - If the geyser is meant to be my largest entry spend monthly why is it so low relative to my boll? - I'm assuming the scaling on the app uses uses a unit cost that is wrong (I cant change this) - Does an average 545kWh usage make sense? Question 2 - If my numbers are correct- what benefit could I get from alternate geyser strategies Question 3 - Solar vs Heat Pump vs Other ??? - What do I look and consider? Tx

Dazed and confused- Wiring and Neutral Issues
Hey Guys So I need some assistance please. This is my setup: Axpert King 3,2kw Inverter 2x 200ah Gel batteries 3 Phase DB- where the following is applied- - The inverter is powered from Phase 3 - Selected Lights and Plugs have been reconfigured to run off the inverter - Physically they are not on the same Phase as the Inverter, yet they are all connected off the neutral bar from the inverter Between the DB, Inverter and Batteries I have- - change over switch (Eskom or Batteries) - earth leakage - over current breaker My issues: - the installation by a qualified electrician has exceeded 16 hours on site with a system partly functional - initially after wiring up the Inverter and on testing the board kept tripping- this continued for around the 1st 6 hours - the assumed culprits were back feeds, dead neurtrals combined/ shared neutrals etc. - after the tripping issues were resolved by tracing and separating neutrals the system could run as intended - the next issue is two separate circuits- one a plug circuit and the other a light circuit won't work off the inverter - both circuits show 220v on the output side when Eskom is down and the inverter is active- yet they don't work So any ideas? I have spent the equivalent of 16hours on electrician costs with a system that does not meet my needs. Any help would be appreciated. Tx

Hi Guys After some research and a few quotes from installers, I've decided on this basic system - Axpert 5kva 48v with 2.4kw Lithium. I plan to install myself and have COC done professionally. The purpose initially is only as a Ups. Question - should I be considering MPPT vs PWM when selecting the inverter? Also, is there a configuration for the inverter that would best suit the battery - I'm thinking charge rate specifically. Tx

@Achmatis it an issue if the battery ah rating halves when going from 24v to 48v- I'm guessing you half the output? However, if 48v is more efficient that 24v would this suffice? tx

@Achmat, thanks so much for your response. I live in Bryanston in JHB in a mini estate- so we aren't even allowed a gennie, let alone any high powered machinery- so definitely nothing requiring 3 phase. So just to confirm: I move all the required circuits to the phase I want to backup (selected lights and plug points) and have only this phase connected to the inverter? Is this a straight forward operation, as I'm surprised the installer didn't suggest this approach when he came on site? On a slightly different point, not wanting the hassle of panels for now, I requested a quote for just the inverter and batteries- this was more expensive- does this make sense? Hi All I'm a complete newbie to backup power and alternate energy- however given the prevalence of load shedding and power outages, I need some assistance. I received a blind quote for the following: 3kva Axpert Inverter 2x 100ah Gel Batteries 2x Solar Panels All other hardware and consumables Supply and Installation Total R15,000 When they came on site to install he said it was not possible as I have 3phase power. I was then offered a similar system that was not automatic but that I had to plug in during power outages, which won't work for me. My needs are simply to have basic power during outages- to run boundary lights, internal lights, 2 TV's, Router and alarm for +/- 4hours. My question, do you get 3 phase inverters and if so are they seemingly different to conventional single phase inverters? Tx Ryan
