Goodwe or Sofar?

Featured Replies

Hello Everyone,

We have an IMEON 3.6 now and are looking for more capacity and high-voltage storage. We are looking at the Goodwe GW10K-ET and Sofar HYD 15000TL 3Phase inverters.

Does anyone have experience with both?

Hi. Did you make a decision on which way to go? I am interested int he Goodwe GW10k-ETs and what experience people have had with these .. seems like a great unit from the specs.

We have had the Goodwe GW10k-ET for a little over a year. I have mixed emotions about the unit:

The Goodwe does not start up from Pylontech Powercube H2 batteries on its own. It requires grid power or PV power to start beyond the standby phase. According to Goodwe Support the unit was designed to operate that way. In practice this means that if the unit shuts down during load shedding at night, it will not restart until grid power is restored.

I should mention that when it works, it works well. We have hosted many parties during load shedding, running for hours from batteries. Our solution is to make sure there are no load which come close to the 3.3KW limit per phase.

Interesting to read about some details of the lesser known Goodwe brand. Some 6yrs ago it seemed Goodwe were popular amongst hybrid grid tied inverters.

This seems to be a Goodwe thing. My ES only starts when there is grid or PV. The brand of battery is different

But are there other brands that can start from battery in the absence of the other two sources?

Do I take it that there aren't other hybrid systems that can restart from battery only?

I wonder if Goodwe has improved their software - hardware is great but my experience on the software side was pretty mediocre at best, and that really impacts on the usability of the product.
