Parallel battery connection methods

Featured Replies

Hi All,

Please refer to the two wiring options below:

1. Is there a benefit to using option 1 vs the more common method in option 2?

2. In option 2, does the + & - cables going to the inverter have to be the same length?

Thanks!

Firstly, when paralleling it's ideal to keep cable lengths the same.

But option 1 would have lower cable losses.  By that I mean there is a voltage drop in the cable.  The higher the current the more the loss.  Having two cables = lower resistance = lower losses.

Option 2 also seems to promote the idea of shorter cables which would mean one battery has a tiny bit higher resistance which could measure as a small discrepancy between how much current comes from one battery vs the other.

Seem to recall Option 1 is for >100A and Option 2 is for <100A. Mine is connected like Option 2, but considering those Shotos are 1C, peak current can reach 200A (if the inverter is set up like that) and Option 1 would be better.

Hi guys, newby Eddie this side....not sure how this is going to work out but i am taking a chance.

Got a system installed ,neighbour used a installer and all looked good and i went for it too.

8kwh axpert48 v Rct inverter November 2022 with 2 Shoto 512kwh lithium 100 a batteries

A few problems after that iand i went on a solar course and here i am ,wanting to sort out the problems.

  1. the installer did not connect the batteries like the above picture or per manual instructions, from inverter pos to batterie 1pos and inv neg to batterie 1 neg , and then from batterie 1 on the extra + and - ports to batterie 2. Dip switches on 1 and 2 respectively.

  2. Just one network cable connected from batterie 1 to batterie 2

Is this the right way to do it or should i change to what the manual says? I get the lengths of the cables etc.

  1. A while ago when we did not have many days of sunshine because of rain here in Gauteng my batterie nr 1 died and i cannot even reset

it , but nr 2 batterie still working but not nice having just the one batterie .....how do i sort that one out pls?

Thank you for your time,i hope somebody can steer me in the right direction
