March 23, 20224 yr Hi, new here and joined specifically for the good technical advice. Can someone please assist me with the information on the connection between a Sunsynk 5K-SG01LP1 and a 5.12kWh Shoto lithium Ion battery, the Sunsynk manual I have says "0" in all table cells as per below, and the internet states the below table, which looks like a CANBUS connection....so I am not sure if I should treat the setup as a lead-acid as per the below NOTICE or if I should connect it with the CANBUS cabling, please advise

To request an upgrade fill in the form at: https://www.sunsynk.org/up-grade The latest SynSynk installer manual v7 Dec 2021 can be accessed from https://www.sunsynk.org/manuals and has some minor comments on SHOTO that may help. Also set the ID of the battery (DIP Switch), even if you only have one. Edited March 24, 20224 yr by system32
April 3, 20224 yr @Japie Basson, use "Li-ion" option on Sunsynk battery setup. The Shoto battery manual shows the connections. In short, use CANBUS for inverter to master battery, and RS485 between batteries, with master/slave switches as per last page in battery manual, depending on number of batteries connected. (See attached pic supplied by @TheoVogel showing Shoto CANBUS (yellow) and RS485 (grey) connection and switches.) @system32, thanks for info. Please advise where to locate the inverter's software version (required for requesting upgrade from Sunsynk). Edited April 3, 20224 yr by LoodPyp Add pic

The SunSynk firmware version is displayed on the screen and can also be views from the Sunsynk app (requires Sunsynk wifi dongle). NOTE: You will need either the SolarMan WiFi or SunSynk WiFi dongle for support to remotely update the firmware. April 15, 20224 yr If using RS485 to connect to the batteries, you may need to set the Modbus ID of the inverter. See section "5.16 Advanced Settings for Paralleling Inverters" of the Sunsynk installer manual. My Sunsynk 8k defaulted to Modbus ID 0 - which is a broadcast address. This caused problems with RS484 modbus monitoring of the inverter - changed ID to 1 and all good. https://github.com/kellerza/sunsynk If using Modbus, all devices should have unique Modbus ID.
