Question

Hi. I have just installed a solar PV array consisting of 2 groups of 6 48v 455w panels running through the Axpert IV 5600w which in turn is hooked up to the mains electricity and 6 Pylontech US3000 batteries.

My settings are User in program 05 (as I cannot get the batteries to communicate with the inverter properly) and SBU in program 01 Output source priority. The contract I have with electric company provide 2 hours of free electricity each day from 07.00 to 09.00.

To take advantage of this free power to top up the batteries etc I have been trying to set up the timers in programs 99 and 100. Setting 99 (Timer Setting for Output Source Priority) to run USB and 100 (Timer Setting for Charger Source Priority) to SNU from 07.00 to 09.00. At 07.00 the utility kick in for both charging and output but do not revert to SBU at 09.00.

Any suggestions as to how I can make the timers kick in and then out would be much appreciated.

Are you entering 8am for the stop hour? It seems to stop at the end of the given hour.

I've been entering 07.00 as start time and 09.00 as end time. That said this morning I only had 100 (snu) on the timer and it worked - perhaps having both 100 and 99 set at the same times is the problem. I'll try again tomorrow.

Having failed to end this morning and rereading I now understand (I think) what you meant - I should enter 07.00 as the start time and 08.00 as the end time. Hopefully then at the end of the 8th hour it cut the utility and return to OSO charging. Fingers crossed for tomorrow 🙂

Hi. I am continuing in this thread because the issue is similar, the hardware the same though the batteries and inverter now communicate so the setting in program 5 is now PYL. All well and good.

Note that the inverter (Axpert IV 5600w) is not connected to wifi.

Since successfully setting up the communication between batteries and inverter the inverter's internal clock is all over the place making the timer unusable. 2 questions:

  1. Does the internal clock depend on wifi to remain accurate?
  2. If so, and wifi is not an option for the moment, forgetting the internal timer: would setting the inverter output source to SUB and charger source priority to SNU with an external timer switch on the utility side be a workaround? Could this damage the inverter - utility on and off once a day?

As always many thanks for any pointers out there.

Only thing I can add is that every time I connect to my battery bms the time is wrong. It's not a pylon, but maybe that is where your issue stems from. Perhaps since setting up battery comms the inverter is now getting the time from the bms. Maybe try reverting back to user setting for the battery and see if the time stays consistent again.

Many thanks Jumper. The timer/clock works fine in 'user' mode though I would like the batteries and inverter to communicate as I assume that is the ideal for both. I'll see if there is any feedback on the external timer workaround.

Hi there,

I'm warming this thread up after some month because I have a question re the timer on Axpert inverters. I upgraded from an 5kVA Axpert to a Axpert SOL-I-AX-8M2 (I believe usually referred to as Max2). As batteries I run two 5.2 kWh Blue Nova's. Now that in South Africa the days get quite short I wanted to use the timer functionality for output source priority (setting 99). As the battery bank runs very nicely I typically run in SBU mode all the time, though from now to the end of July I would like run in SUB for the "morning peak" with hair dryer, coffee machine and toaster from 6am to 8am.

I was looking around and trying to find the base logic of the timer to set it correctly, but couldn't find a general overview.

Hence my question to you guys ... is my understating correct that I would leave the output source priority (01) on SBU and set the output source priority timer (99) for SUB for the time between 6am and 8am?

Thanks a lot for your feedback and help ...

Hi Wilfried.

I can only answer from my experience with the Axpert IV 5600w. For that model yes, you would leave the main setting (01) on SBU and set the timer output priority (99) to SUB - note the timer on the Axpert IV 5600w you would set on at 06 and off at 07, it then switches back at 07.59.

Hope that this helps.

Cheers

HI Oliver,

thanks a lot for your feedback.

That confirms my assumption. I also understand that the hours settings as you describe.

Cheers
