Deye 12K 3-Phase Hybrid Max DC Power per MPPT

Featured Replies

Greetings,

How is the 15600W MPPT power on the Deye 12K 3PH hybrid spread out per MPPT?

Is it:

a) 5200W + 5200W (MPPT1) and 5200W (MPPT2)

or

b) 7800W (MPPT1) and 7800W (MPPT2)

Specifications are summarised below

Max. DC Input Power (W): 15600W
PV Input Current (A): 26A+13A
Max. PV ISC (A): 34A+17A
Number of MPPT / Strings per MPPT: 2/2+1

Edited by Kilowatt Power

your option a) according to their specs. I thought it was odd too when I 1st saw it. Seems to make sense when comapring to the rest of the range, but why they didn't simply make it 3x13A MPPTs I don't know

For the 10K 3PH hybrid with max 13000W MPPT (2+1) strings, I reckon the split is 3900W + 3900W MPPT1 and 5200W MPPT2

Not sure how you arrive at those numbers - I was simply looking at the current split: 13A vs 26A so power will be double on the 26A MPPT compared to the 13A MPPT since all the specified voltages etc are identical. I would go so far as to guess that they simply have lumped 2off 13A MPPTs together and called it a 26A MPPT - probably because some part of the hardware/firmware/software can only handle 2 MPPTs.

Regarding the lower power rating of the 10kW unit - it just means the max voltage at which the 13A can be used is lower and will be a limitation of some other section of their hardware.

Looking at the max DC input power for the 5 models, it's not difficult to deduce that the MPPTs are in multiples of only 3 sizes - 3250W, 3900W and 5200W.  I could be wrong but I'll plan my PV strings along these lines

Model Max Power (W) MPPT1 (W) MPPT2 (W)
5K 6500 3250 3250
6K 7800 3900 3900
8K 10400 5200 5200
10K 13000 7800 5200
12K 15600 10400 5200

Interestingly, the 5200w MPPT matches up with the single phase Deye and Sunsynk inverters, but the current limit and voltage do not - much higher voltage and much lower current allowance on the 3 phase units. This is unfortunate as it precludes the use of the larger 500w+ panels as the current will be too high, so lots of smaller panels in series

For safety sake, why not send Deye a mail and ask them to confirm and then you know for sure

Did exactly that and received the below response which affirms my earlier assumption.

12KW MPPT has 2-way MPPT:

Mppt1: 26a, the maximum DC input power is 10400w.

Mppt2: 13a, the maximum DC input power is 5200w.

I was completely wrong about the 10K. I received the following response from Deye.

10KW has 2-way MPPT:

Mppt1: 26a, the maximum DC input power is 8667w.

Mppt2: 13a, the maximum DC input power is 4333w.

Yes I have been grappling with the same issue and came to the same conclusions. Great that you have confirmed it with Deye.

So what is your optimal panel config going to be ? Which panel and how are you going to configure it  ?

I'll use 3 equal strings of Jinko Solar JKM465M-7RL3-V 465Wp modules with 51.92V Voc, 43.18V Vmp, 10.77A Imp and 11.59A Isc distributed as follows:

PV1 - MPPT1 - 12s1p - 5580Wp, 623.04Voc and 518.16Vmp
PV2 - MPPT1 - 12s1p - 5580Wp, 623.04Voc and 518.16Vmp
PV3 - MPPT2 - 12s1p - 5580Wp, 623.04Voc and 518.16Vmp

I'll slightly go over and above the Max DC Input Power by 7.5% to get Vmp (Rated PV Input Voltage) as close as possible to 550Vdc.

Did you import your inverter or is there an outlet for them up there ?

There are two distributors who sell Deye inverters locally. Then there is the Johannesburg based Valsa Trading Sustainability Solutions with offices in Nairobi who bring us SunSynk inverters and BSL lithium iron phosphate batteries.

Hi, did you do this? Just wondering if it was ok to go to 623.04 Voc? I have a 6KW and keep Voc under 450V to be safe.

It all depends on your inverter. The max PV array open circuit voltage for Deye three-phase hybrid inverters is 800Vdc so 623Voc @ 25 deg C is well below the limit even at 0 deg C which will be 666.65Voc. Similarly 518Vmp is within the 200-650Vdc MPPT range.

Note that the maximum Voc for Deye single-phase hybrids is 500Vdc although SunSynk recommends keeping it below the 450Vdc level.

or

b) 7800W (MPPT1) and 7800W (MPPT2)

Specifications are summarised below

Max. DC Input Power (W): 15600W
PV Input Current (A): 26A+13A
Max. PV ISC (A): 34A+17A
Number of MPPT / Strings per MPPT: 2/2+1

Option B, half the panels on MPPT 1 half on the other.
